Religion Do you think Heaven exists? - Page 8

As some of you may know or not I lost my mom 3 weeks ago and I am sort of struggling with my beliefs with this. She wanted to die so she could go to Heaven instead of getting her colon out. She definitely believed in Heaven and I honestly hope she wasn't disappointed.

My heart wants to believe in Heaven for the simple fact I want to see her again along with my grandma and sometime in the near future my dad.

My head tells me logically that there is probably no heaven and I get a little upset when people say she is in a better place because I really want to say Is she or how do you know?

So I am curious what you guys\gals believe and I am wondering outside of what the bible says has there been anything you have witnessed or experienced that lead you to believe one way or another?

Edit: I do appreciate all the kind words of support it does mean alot but I am not wanting this to be a sympathy thread so any argument for against is fine by me. There will be no offense taken. So have at it.

If you have a need to define it then you can call it god. Its the connection to a part of your mind that you reach via prayer, chanting, meditation or yoga. I've learned to be able to reach pretty much at will. It can be very interesting. The more time I spend at my farm enjoying the solitude and the skies the more I find it relaxing and yet stimulating.

....everything you've mentioned is temporal, while God is eternal.

If i'm reading your response correctly, I take it that beleive your intellect is God.

....this seems to conflict with your stance that there is no God.

John 14:1-3
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." (NIV)

Trusting in God and believing Jesus is your savior and living according to his will are the keys to go to heaven.

I struggle with the will of God becaus of human nature. Diffiicult to do but something that is strived to do. I got to keep working on that.

Or you could explain your comment, "god is eternal." What proof do you have of this? Are you simply defining god as the first uncaused cause or some other philosophical definition of god, or are you actually claiming god to be eternal and have proof to back this claim?

Is it fear? Are you scared of not existing like before you were born? Very odd why any rational person would think they are going to live forever or would even want to. Its the anthropomorphic conceit at work.

That really doesn't matter though to why i think it doesn't end when you die.

I mean you're just floating around out there somewhere, no conscious thought, you miss the plague, crusades, WWII, and then bam, there you are growing up becoming aware that you are living.

I just find it illogical that something as complex as human thought and intelligence fades to nothing. It could be we all lived before and our brains just aren't developed enough to recognize it. It could be we're evolving into what we would technically call 'god'.

To many question with out enough answers.

There is no "god" of silly ancient scribblings. The god project has found over 100,000 gods that have been worshiped at some point here on earth. You choose to disbelieve 99,999 of them, I just take that one step further.

Whatever it is that people call god, that "thing" they connect to and then just "know" there is a god, is inside all of us. No need for superstition or supernatural explanations. The Hindu, Moslem, Christian, Buddhist religious experience is reported as virtually the same thing.

But its not because of some ancient divining of goat entails, rather a connection to a deep part of our own brain's subconscious.
