U.S. Issues The "I Voted" thread

Election day is 12 minutes away on the East Coast. This is the thread to post in once you've voted. For those of you who do vote - congratulations. You now have earned the right to complain about everything for the next four years.

Personally, I Early-Voted last Friday night. Early voting was supposed to end on Wednesday (I think), but because the storm closed it down for two days, the Gov extended it until Friday night. I drove my Dad (age: 79) out to a local community college, and we both went in to stand in the pretty impressively long line.

Dad has trouble standing, so he sat in a chair they had set out; someone apparently came and ushered right up front. I didn't see this, of course, because I was at the tail end of the line; it ended up taking me about an hour fifteen to move through. The election volunteers couldn't have been more efficient. Voting itself took about five minutes.

So go out and vote. Those of you in swing states may end up standing there for hours and hours, but it's important, and worth it. You could very well end up being the deciding vote. Then come in here and post about it.

Also, who made up that ****ing rule about "if you don't vote you can't complain." There's no logic or ethical grounding in that dumbass rule. Prove it. Prove all the non-voters should shut up.

I'll get out and vote but in Kansas it doesn't matter if I vote for Obama. Gotta love me some Electoral College making my vote not as important as others.

Yeah, I should just move. It's funny cause I read an article on USA Today a week or two ago stating all the reasons why the Electoral College should be maintained and it boiled down to bullshit reasons like "maintaining integrity" and all that malarkey. I honestly have a great idea, don't abolish the electoral college, make every state worth the same amount of points. Don't give me the reason that because I don't live in a state that has a higher population that our portion of the vote isn't as high. If you made all states equal, dangerous concept I know, but then the candidates would actually have to visit the country that's voting them into office. Yes, it would make the bus tours more time consuming and difficult but we're talking about our President who'll be set up for life and run our country for us. I also read online that someone can win the election by winning 18 out of the 50 states. Talk about a broke ass system all together.

And honestly I would move if I was a staunch Democrat, but I'm not. I'm a person who votes for the man I believe will make this country great. I don't know why I say that seeing as its the parties and cabinet that run the country most of the time, not the actual President.

Okay I have a great opinion, in my own opinion, and you're opinion of my opinion is your opinion. I'm just telling you my reasons for not wanting to vote, no harm no foul.

Oh and you can win the election by winning 11 states not 18. Fun stuff.

It is possible to win the election by winning eleven states and disregarding the rest of the country. If one ticket were to take California (55 votes), Texas (38), New York (29), Florida (29), Illinois (20), Pennsylvania (20), Ohio (18), Michigan (16), Georgia (16), North Carolina (15), and New Jersey (14) that ticket would have 270 votes, which would be enough to win.
