And I nodded knowingly, chewing my biscuit that never comes with enough butter, which is the only thing that really annoys me about KFC, and I say, "I hear ya, brutha. I'd really prefer to vote for Johnson too, and for the same reason. But I can't do that, because the Colorado race is so close that I have to vote for Romney just in case."

And then we look at each other across the table and recognize that we have perfect symmetry around the idealistic core of American democracy, and that we both hate voting for the big-party machines that exist only to tax and spend us into bankruptcy, cut essential government services that leave people starving in the streets, repress religious freedoms, form an arch-conservative theocracy, ban abortion, force women to take free abortions, kill the space program, waste money on the space program, involve us in pointless wars, and ignore international affairs with our heads in the sand.

So we made a deal. I don't vote for Romney, he doesn't vote for Obama, and we both vote for Johnson, who will create a society where everyone has enough butter for the KFC biscuits, not because it's mandated, but because there's just a lot of butter.

Everybody wins!
