GOP, 2012: Angry White Men and Their Women

Honestly, that is what the Republican party has become. Think about it...

Think about most of the obnoxious conservatives in this forum: Angry White Men....it says it all. They've been drinking the Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck Kool-Aid for over 20 years now. Is it really surprising, then, that the party no longer appeals to anyone else--especially with their seething contempt and venomous attacks toward anyone who dares to disagree with them?

The Democrats went though a similar thing...between 1968 and 1988, when they lost 5 out of 6 Presidential elections, because they were out-of-touch with the country (too beholden to bleeding heart liberals and minorities.) Between 1992 and 2012, the Republicans have now lost the popular vote for President in 5 of the 6 elections, for the same reason (too beholden to the Tea Party and talk radio addicts.)

Until the GOP admits they have a a big problem, and are out-of-touch, and seek to moderate their policies and rhetoric....they will remain the party of Angry White Men and the Women Who Love Them. They must find ways to appeal to larger numbers of Blacks, Asians, women, and Hispanics--otherwise they are screwed. And they will continue to struggle to win national elections.

It's simple math. Demographic shifts have become political inertia, and the GOP has to recognize that reality--instead of pretending not to notice.

In 1992, Clinton brought the Democratic party back toward the mainstream. For the GOP to turn things around in 2016, they'll need to do the same thing. Whenever political parties are sucked into lunatic fringe politics, they alienate the voters who matter--in our republic, a majority. Republicans had better soon remember the role of majority rule in our country, or they may yet become this century's version of the Whigs.

They are old white people and the reason why they hated Obama and would never vote for him was because he was black. They would never come out and say it but from their inferences it was obvious.

Again I don't want to generalize because I know all Republicans\conservatives are not like that but there is a large group that is.

My family is exactly the same way. All I can do is teach my child to make up her own mind on such matters, and not perpetuate the hate into another generation.

The argument above was whether the phrase, "War on women" is rhetoric. Not whether they're properly appealing to female voters.

You feel that limiting abortion funding constitutes a war on women? Considering millions of women vote Republican I have to wonder how you and the Democrats came to speak for all women.

Dude, my grandpa-in-law hates blacks, hates gays, and hates Communists. Oh and he hates Muslims too.

He voted for Obama because he is a UAW retiree and the Democrats are "for the unions".

One of my former students posted on facebook, to a ton of likes, "If the south would've won we would've had it made."

This isn't some misanthropic social outcast kid, either. He's someone who is popular, well off, and a generally "good" kid.

If you're accusing people of demagoguery, the left does it just the same. They're just more successful at doing it. And now that the feel the have minorities in their pocket they're moving to the War on Women rhetoric.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm simply analyzing the demographics of the exit polling. In other words--the facts. And it is what it is, even if it makes you squirm.

Like I said I don't want to generalize because I know there is alot of good and decent Republicans out there.

I honestly believe this is more of a generational issue than anything. At least I hope so.
