The Obama Recovery

Get used to hearing those words.

The IMF predicted the US is on track for faster and stronger growth than any of our global allies.

Housing has turned around, home values are coming back up.

And when housing turns around, it will be impossible to stop the wave of millions of new jobs.

Consumer confidence is rising and is stronger at this point than at any point of the Obama presidency, and the last year of the Bush presidency.

This has all occured with zero help from the GOP, and it doesn't appear that the GOP is particularly ready to help out the President very much in his second term.

Repeat: this recovery was created almost entirely without Republican assistance.

If this economy is as sturdy in 2016 as people are estimating, and the GOP has continued the obstructionism of the past four years, then another Democratic president seems too reasonable to ignore.

Alright, GOP: you took your ball, you went home. And Americans punished you for it.

Come back to the table.

Make the next four years bipartisan, dare I say, and have a hand in what is sure to be an exciting four years economically.

I wouldn't read too much into other then Obama is a master con man that conned a lot of people. I highly doubt the next democratic nominee is as good of a con man.

You do understand Obama can't just do whatever he wants, right? It wasn't a mandate, he was just perceived as a better candidate than Romney for whatever reason. I mean, feel free to run around in a panic if that feels like the right thing to do, but it doesn't mean you have some kind of insight that everybody else is lacking.

Well, we may not be a true democracy but last night proves America want's their free stuff:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”

Um, I'm pretty sure de Tocqueville never said anything like that.

We've heard this all before, remember? Except the squeals of "socialism!" are even louder now - even though Obama is only proposing a Clintonian 4.6% raise on the top 2%. Just a little tiny taste compared to what Clinton did offset by a 2.5:1 spending cut ratio. Over-react much?

FLASHBACK 1993: GOP squeals "Clinton’s Tax Plan will Kill Jobs!, Kill The Current Recovery!"

Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-GA), February 2, 1993: I believe that raising taxes will in fact kill the current recovery and put us back in a recession. It might take 1 1/2 or 2 years, but it will happen. (Congressional Record, 1993, Thomas)

Rep. Bill Archer (R-TX), May 24, 1993: I would much rather be here today supporting the President and I would do so if his proposals could expect to increase jobs and the standard of living for Americans, but I believe his massive tax increases will do just the opposite. (Congressional Record, 1993, Thomas)

Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-GA), July 13, 1993: Small businesses generate the bulk of this Nation’s new jobs. And they will be the hardest hit by the Clinton tax-and-spend budget. Because, when you raise taxes, you kill jobs. (Congressional Record, 1993, Thomas)

Rep. Christopher Cox (R-CA), May, 27, 1993: This is really the Dr. Kevorkian plan for our economy. It will kill jobs, kill businesses, and yes, kill even the higher tax revenues that these suicidal tax increasers hope to gain. (Congressional Record, 1993, Page: H2949)

If taxes need to be raised it should be done across the board.
