I really think the GOP screwing over Ron Paul and losing a lot of his fan's votes cost them the election. They deserved to lose. Although I really hate both Romney and Obama, I think the only real loss of the election is the fact that Gary Johnson didn't get 5% of the votes. Whether you like him as a candidate or not, I think most should agree that the Libertarian Party(or any other party for that matter) gaining more notoriety with the media and the public would be a great thing. Just about every person I come across who's not actively into politics says they're voting who they feel to be the lesser of two evils or not voting for a 3rd party because they think it's a wasted vote. I hope that the GOP takes this loss to heart and reforms their image. Hopefully they've learned that appealing to the bible thumpers in the south isn't enough to win an election. Time to get with the times.

That is so much BS. GOP screwing Ron Paul is why the Republicans lost? That is some serious spin of BS.

I think there's a lot of legitimacy to it. But ultimately, it no longer matters to me. I tried to be a Republican. I participated in their primaries. I hold mostly conservative beliefs. They've made it clear to me that I'm not welcome. I'll see if they're willing to reform themselves to let libertarians have a piece of the pie. If not, I'll be happy to vote for Gary Johnson again in 2016.

Business Insider predicts GOP Civil War:
Conservative talk radio host Steve Deace tells Business Insider that the "civil war" within the Republican Party has already begun in the wake of Mitt Romney's loss to Barack Obama. Deace, a prominent Iowa Republican, emails: "He [Romney] killed us all over the country. Look at [same-sex] marriage. We've never lost the issue before, until it shared a ballot with Romney then we lost it four times on one day. Heck, we even won marriage in California on Election Day 2008 for goodness sake. There will never be another establishment candidate like that. Jeb Bush, Chris Christie...those people will never happen. Heck, I think Christie will be driven out of the GOP and be the next Charlie Crist. Mitt just killed Republicans in my home state. People are angry, especially because Matt Drudge and Karl Rove told us it was all in the bag all along, after they got done smearing conservatives in the primary and dumping on Todd Akin. It's on like Donkey Kong." Deace's dissatisfaction with Romney and other moderate Republicans lays bare the growing rifts between the GOP Establishment and grassroots conservatives. |

Why don't you (i.e. The Republican Party) offer something and find out? They offered absolutely NOTHING. They did NOTHING to attract the libertarian base. They preferred to act like we didn't exist/matter. Why should a libertarian/Ron Paul supporter ever consider voting for a Republican again? What am I willing to compromise on? What are YOU willing to give up? If Mitt Romney had made the auditing of the Federal Reserve even a discussion, and THEN libertarian/Ron Paul supporters turned their nose up, you'd have some cause for complaint. That's not what happened - we were completely shut out of the party and told that the party didn't need us and that if we weren't voting for Mitt, we were voting for Obama and we're not worth having. I'd love to know what "we" would have compromised on. It would have been nice to have that discussion when it meant something.
