Chicago advice and must see's

So, I am heading to Chicago on Friday and have all day Saturday to kill, staying at the Hard Rock hotel on Michigan Street. So far all we have planned is to check out the Sears Tower (or whatever it's called now) and a dinner at Ditkas and possibly the House of Blues after. Never been to Chicago, the weather looks decent for the weekend I'll be there.

Any Advice?

When I lived in Chicago, from 1984 to 2001, the Hancock's observation deck seemed to be a better overall experience than the one at the former Sears Tower. The Hancock is closer to the shoreline and it's situated in a much more touristy part of the city than the Sears Tower. I used to live not too far from the Sears Tower, and I like that part of the Loop just fine, but it wasn't really a tourist destination.

For a one-day trip, I'd recommend that you take a boat tour (if you have warm clothes with you). The ChicagoLine tour is highly recommended and is still offering tours (before Winter sets in). The Wendella tour is also a safe bet--they've been in business for a long time. You can see a lot of the city from the water and then be near the Magnificent Mile where you can walk to other prime spots in the Loop (i.e. the Art Institute) and/or the Near North Side.

Make sure you bring some nice warm gloves and a hat and maybe a scarf. They'll come in handy when you're out and about.

If you're a WWII buff the Science Museum.

They have a captured U-Boat display that's awesome. It's suspended just above the floor and you can walk around, under it.

Plus you can take a tour and walk through it where they turn the lights off and broadcast orders and sounds through the speakers that tries to recreate the sounds you'd hear during battle.

One of the best displays of anything I've ever seen in any museum.

I get there frequently to visit the Mother Ship (headquarters). You are certainly in the right part of town. Unfortunately it's not baseball season. Wrigley field is not to be missed.

If you want great Chicago style deep dish pizza hit Giordano's. As mentioned, all of the museums are amazing, walk Michigan Ave, go to the top of the John Hancock bldg, and take a boat tour or at least a boat taxi from Navy Pier to the Aquarium/Museum of Natural History. Personally I think the Navy Pier is a waste of time but to each their own.

Do you realize the backups we have to this second coming of Matt Cassel have NEVER EVER thrown a regular season pass.
