Neighborhood watch captain shoots innocent black youth and doesn't even get arrested

This is some ****ED UP SHIT, they aren't sure if the racist neighborhood watch idiot should be arrested? If anything, local gangs might take notice of this and start shooting up that neighborhood or just random white neighborhoods. I could never live in the south, it's ridiculous. The guy shoots an innocent teen walking to the store to buy skittles. Should be life in prison, that's cold blood man.

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - The family of a 17-year-old African-American boy shot to death last month in his gated Florida community by a white Neighborhood Watch captain wants to see the captain arrested, the family's lawyer said on Wednesday.

Trayvon Martin was shot dead after he took a break from watching NBA All-Star game television coverage to walk 10 minutes to a convenience store to buy snacks including Skittles candy requested by his 13-year-old brother, Chad, the family's lawyer Ben Crump said.

"He was a good kid," Crump said in an interview, adding that the family would issue a call for the Watch captain's arrest at a news conference on Thursday. "On his way home, a Neighborhood Watch loose cannon shot and killed him."

Trayvon, who lived in Miami with his mother, had been visiting his father and stepmother in a gated townhome community called The Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford, 20 miles north of Orlando.

As Trayvon returned to the townhome, Sanford police received a 911 call reporting a suspicious person.

Although names are blacked out on the police report, Crump and media reports at the time of the shooting identified the caller as George Zimmerman who is listed in the community's newsletter as the Neighborhood Watch captain.

Without waiting for police to arrive, Crump said, Zimmerman confronted Trayvon, who was on the sidewalk near his home. By the time police got there, Trayvon was dead of a single gunshot to the chest.

"What do the police find in his pocket? Skittles," Crump said. "A can of Arizona ice tea in his jacket pocket and Skittles in his front pocket for his brother Chad."

Zimmerman could not be reached for comment on Wednesday evening at a phone number listed for him on the community's newsletter.

Crump said the family was concerned that police might decide to consider the shooting as self defense, and that police have ignored the family's request for a copy of the original 911 call, which they think will shed light on the incidents.

"If the 911 protocol across the country held to form here, they told him not to get involved. He disobeyed that order," said Ryan Julison, a spokesman for the family.

"He (Zimmerman) didn't have to get out of his car," said Crump, who has prepared a public records lawsuit to file on Thursday if the family doesn't get the 911 tape. "If he never gets out of his car, there is no reason for self-defense. Trayvon only has skittles. He has the gun."

Since Trayvon, a high school junior who wanted to be a pilot, was black and Zimmerman is white, Crump said race is "the 600 pound elephant in the room."

"Why is this kid suspicious in the first place? I think a stereotype must have been placed on the kid," Crump said.

I bet you don't use it, though, as a badge to be more bold in seeking out confrontations. I respect the hell out of gun owners. Most of the ones I know take their rights very seriously as I believe you do too.

Zimmerman, gun or no gun, is a guy who attracts trouble. He reminds me of guys I knew in college who never started fights, but they sure as hell could get someone to fight them, and they loved it. Which is what bugs the shit out of me when people like Zimmerman use it as a badge to go on the offensive. When you carry a firearm, you should have an obligation to be responsible with your own behavior. Zimmerman broke every bit of basic watch protocol WHILE carrying a weapon to me which suggests that this is not a guy who takes his right to carry very seriously. It gives him a backup plan when he picks a fight he can't win.

I was at a house party where a fight broke out between a DMX wannabe and a Bruce Lee wannabe. I got in between them to break it up and Bruce Lee kicked me in the chest when I never laid a hand on him. I was pretty pissed about it, and just thought about how that kid was using his training to go on offense rather defense. Was getting kicked my own fault? Sure. But that doesn't excuse someone chucking the training out the window and pleading adrenaline later.

The last thing in this world I would ever want to do is shoot someone... I am a big guy, I don't need a gun to make me feel equal in size to most people nor do I carry a gun to intimidate because no one knows I am carrying... I do not "feel" like a bigger man with a gun, I am a very peaceful man but I be damned if someone is going to come in a theater I am sitting in guns a blazing or come into a restaurant and be at their will unless they kill me coming in the door. I will protect me and my family by any means necessarily and I am willing to die to do so.

And that's all I have to say about that.

In 2005, Zimmerman, then 20, was arrested and charged with “resisting officer with violence” and “battery of law enforcement officer,” both which are third-degree felonies. The charge was reduced to “resisting officer without violence” and then waived when he entered an alcohol education program. Contemporaneous accounts indicate he shoved an officer who was questioning a friend for alleged underage drinking at an Orange County bar.

That fighting a popo charge was when the guy was at a bar and the cops were doing an undercover sting on underage drinkers... One of Z's buddies got into it with this dude that they had no idea was a cop and he pushed him or something...

Charges were first reduced and then dropped all together and you know if he did that shit a judge would throw the book at his ass.

George Zimmerman's police record has come to light. NBC is reporting He was arrested in 2005 in Orlando Fl. for resisting an undercover alcohol control officer (who was making arrests in a bar), and obstructing justice (a felony). The police report described Zimmerman as interjecting himself into the situation, and when the officer identified himself Zimmerman said "I don't care who you are". When police ordered him to leave again and George replied "**** you!". The police report stated Zimmerman "used violence and battery against the officer".
Charges were reduced from a felony and Zimmerman was sentenced to anger management classes. If Zimmerman's charges hadn't been reduced he would have been unable to get a concealed weapons permit

I didn't remember it actually, I had remembered he had a fight or something with his old lady but to emphasize, I am not defending Z, I am defending his right to defend himself when he was being assaulted in a manner that could have seriously injured him for life or killed him.
