Gun Control
We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.


What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

of course its not. In Florida they issued the 1 millionth concealed gun permit this week. They passed the Stand your ground law allowing citizens to murder other citizens if they feel threatened. Florida is not any safer and violence has went up since they passed those laws.

As I pointed out earlier, Maryland, California, Nevada, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, and Arizona are all states in the top ten of gun violence. It seems pretty evenly spread out to me.

Correct. Flooding the streets with guns or trying to keep guns off the streets will not stop us from committing violence against one another. Those two options are not the solution.

I don't need more guns. But I need to be able to carry them. to church, to drop of my kids at school, etc. A person like me, military, properly trained with guns, owns guns and can carry them in most places, can't take that gun to work at the school yesterday.

Half? Hell, to even get it up to half a percent of the national population you'd need THOUSANDS of incidents like this to happen in a year. Not a handful.

If 70 people died in America a year as a result of cancer, there'd be no need for the American Cancer Society. If 70 people died in a year as a result of car crashes, nobody would give a crap about seatbelts.

But 70 people were killed in mass shootings this year, so liberals think we should all be disarmed.

Maybe you should stop letting the media scare the shit out of you.

As I said earlier, control mood enhancers more strictly, stop prescribing serotonins as if they are cold medicine, and have medical providers give non-medicated solutions to our "epidemic" of depression and I guarantee violence in this nation will go down.

I just got reminded of an old favorite quote; "The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but a sheepdog LIVES for that day."

and another favorite quote, "I don't want anymore tragedies. But if one is going to happen, let it happen in front of me so I can make a difference, or die trying."

I read the first one from grossman. But I coined the second one when I first started Basic in 1994.
