We have all heard about what happened in Aurora, Co, and I think that Gun Control is going to be a huge topic in the following months.


What measures need to be taken? Do you have any ideas that will help prevent this kind of thing from happening again as it pertains to guns?

pay attention much? Last week at a gas station. old white guy doesn't like black mans loud music. Argument ensues, white guy shoots unarmed back guy. His defense, stand your ground because he felt threatened by the 4 young black men in the car. Murder charges filed this week. Happens all the time down here.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement site violent crime has been trending down since 2007.

I know it seems out there but perhaps the do something need is better directed ag doing something that has potential to work. Kids in schools should be secure. School security would be far more positive than running about having a catfight over gun control. I believe school security is an idea everyone could support

Wow. Amazed anyone goes to get gas if it happens all the time. Did this sort of behavior start after they passed the law? In Missouri lawlessness has been around since Jesse James. Ill bet the sudden onset of gas station murder and liquor store hold ups has poor Floridians cowering in their homes.

I could find statistics to back up my point. If your point is that more guns on the street is the solution. Your never going to convince me that path is the correct one. I've already stated my opinion that more guns or less guns is not the solution.

You're wrong. Period. More guns in the hands of non-criminals is and has always been an effective deterrent.

If you want to get the guns away from the actual criminals, I agree with that. Personally I'd be in favor of a purge. It's not like the cops don't know who and where they are.

The problem there, while certainly swift and actual, it is a violation of the constitution. Illegal search and seizure. I can not say I will stand for the constitution when it comes to the second amendment, but not stand for the fourth amendment with the same conviction.

True, but the other side is already using the Constitution as asswipe. This would actually do some real good.

I agree personally, but, as an enforcer of the law (and most of us feel this way), I have to put personal feelings aside when I deal with law enforcement. Otherwise, we'd be living in dire times where my personal feelings or politics would rule every professional decision I make. Even more dire than today's perception. It's not my job to decide what laws are more or less important. In fact personal discretion already plays too heavy a hand. But it's an important balance for those professional enough not to confuse the spirit of the law with personal agendas.
