NRA: Society has left children 'utterly defenseless'

NRA: Society has left children 'utterly defenseless'

CNN Wire Staff

(CNN) Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president of the National Rifle Association, said "for all the noise and anger directed at us ... nobody has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now ... in a way that we know works."

At a press event in Washington, LaPierre said U.S. society has left children "utterly defenseless."

A protester interrupted the NRA appearance before reporters with a banner accusing the NRA of killing children. The protester was led out of the room as he shouted anti-NRA slogans.

LaPierre added that violent crime is increasing in the U.S. due to a lack of willing to prosecute such acts.

If you are going to do it right you would need multiple officers just like they have when you go into a federal building. I don't think one would be much help against someone that is that determined which IMO is what separates school\mass shootings from regular everyday homicides. The person doing the killing most likely doesn't care if they live or die and they will have planned it out and accounted for everything.

It would be like me watching a show about building a bridge, than arguing with a bridge engineer how to build it correctly.

If makes no ****ing sense.

You had no idea what he was going to say, because the NRA doesn't care about you or the 70% that think there can be changes made. They do appreciate your money however.

I'd bet $100 that very soon, the gov will require a 'permit' to buy ammo; and permit that will likely cost a retarded ammount that needs to be renewed each year.

then they can say "see...we pro 2nd ammendment'!
yay revenue!!!

change. Not changes, change. Not plural, singular. Uno, 1 change. Background checks for private-party transactions.

Thats it, and that wont do much at all for gun violence.

They can permit ammo, but then it would go to court and get struck down.

Anti-protection people, you can't get around the second amendment.

I'm okay with a permit to buy ammo. I think that's potentially good idea.

Just read a bit on one story which I hadn't thought of

Here are 3 big, looming, intimidating reasons why there will be no gun control laws passed this year or in 2014.

1) Kay Hagan
2) Mark Pryor
3) Mark Begich
