Sell me on Mike Glennon

Right now I don't see anything about the guy that I like.

I haven't watched any more than about 2 minutes of live game footage. I've seen a bunch of highlights of his throws on youtube.

I want to like the guy. I want him to be good so people will stop bitching about how supposedly terrible this year's QB class is, but every time I watch something of his, I get turned off. He's 2nd round material at best to me that will (possibly) get taken in the top 10? Some people even have him as the top QB off the board?

That's pure insanity to me.

Tell me/show me stuff about Mike Glennon that will change my mind. I promise to withhold all preconceived notions about the guy in this thread for the purposes of trying to like him.

Based on the stuff I have watched so far, no. He's NOT better than Geno Smith, and he won't ever be. But I'm tired of shitting on him when everybody is talking him up as potentially a good pro QB.

If you want to know who the guy that Glennon reminds me of in college it's Ricky Stanzi.

Big arm, good football IQ, decent release and corrected some early college career inaccuracies to a point, but still struggles to make good throws down range and tends to get nervous when the game is put into his hands and that will force him to make bad decisions with the ball.

This Mike Glennon in the first round bullshit is, not to be redundant but...bullshit.

If not for the fact that he's 6'6" and is relatively athletic with a big arm, there would be no discussion of Glennon until the later part of the third round at best.

I mean, if this guy passes up Tyler Bray, Ryan Nassib and EJ Manuel, let alone Matt Barkley, Tyler Wilson and Geno Smith, that should be a definite "you just got your pink slip moment" for the GM that pulls that trigger.

I'm still amazed how much authority and weight is given to guys like Kiper and McShay and Mayock. I swear that they just pick a dude to prop up simply to show people how much power and sway they have over the uneducated masses of football fans.

I think Brad Sorensen of shitty Southern Utah is a better NFL prospect than Glennon.

Jesus Christ man, Dalton was fantastic in college.
I understand your point about that he could possible outplay some other higher picks... but Dalton was a great prospect because he played great in college... not because he is 6'6.

Dalton was accurate as all get out and was an absolute stud playing under pressure.

The knock on Glennon is that he forces throws and makes bad decisions when the pressure starts to get turned up. Like now.

And I'm pretty sick of having a QB who can't throw under pressure. One that makes bad decisions when they have to make a throw.

Quick Slants = the most efficient pass in football.

If we got a OC in here that would utilize Geno's quick release on slants and let the WR's get some YAC across the middle, we would have a good offense.

These quick slants then open the deep ball in which Geno excels...

Now, defenses can game plan against this... but that is what Jamaal Charles is for.

Geno could be awesome in KC.

Aside of the 3 INT's, everything else he has done has been solid. I have only seen 1 INT, the last one that was under thrown, can not comment on the previous 2, he just under threw the one in the end zone. He has hit many WR's in the 3's and came away with nothing due to drops.

A kid with solid tools, ( footwork is solid, arm solid, not over powering, his lone mechanical problem is his long wind up delivery, not compact at all )a project that has career back up all over it unless a good QB coach can get more out of him.
