The beautiful thing about believing in God is that you dont have to have proof to know that he exists.

You are right, the Bible was written by men...yet it is the word of God. Men such as prophets and priests and saints are less men than channels that allow God to reach the rest of us. The dictionary is also just words, and yet it defines every word in the English language...

God makes his actions through people, and those people's actions are God. Moses did all of his work in Egypt for and by God. Without God, the chosen people would have remained slaves. Noah built the ark as a result of God's will. God did not want humans to go extinct, so he acted through Noah and his family.

People quote the Holy Bible because they respect its wisdom. Even if one does not believe in God, they cannot deny that the Bible lays down wonderful moral guidelines.

The proof of God is shown individually by God. Everyone has their own experiences that proves to them that God is watching over them. If you have not had your experience yet, do not despair. It will always come to those who are truely devoted to Him. And He is always ready toa ccept those who do not follow Him, whenever they decide to turn to Him for guidence.

What I have come to know from this is that God has a plan for each of our lives. We should seek him and ask for his wisdom and guidance.

It appears that we all choose/refuse to believe something.

I'm curious... do you apply the first bolded quote to any other aspects of belief in your life? What other things do you believe in, in which there has never been any observable evidence for, yet you remain convinced of it's truthfulness? If not, then why would you only apply that mindset to religion?

Does it sound absurd to you if I said "The beautiful thing about leprechauns, is is that you dont have to have proof to know that they exist." If so, then why wouldn't it sound absurd for a different topic in which there is equally no proof of existence? Does that not seem strange to you?

And I agree that the Bible lays down some wonderful moral guidelines. But it also lays down some pretty vengeful mean shit too. Murder those that oppose God, kill all their people except the young women, which you should keep as slaves. And it's all right to beat your slaves, as long as you don't kill them. That is directly in the Bible as well. Do you practice that wisdom?

In a religious aspect it's pretty obvious God isn't ruling the earth. So you don't and haven't deserved anything or been punished. It's a simple by-product of everyone being imperfect.

Isn't Hitler's relationship with God the only thing that should matter in determining whether or not he was a Christian? I mean, I've heard/read over and over that our actions ultimately don't matter and that we all sin and that a belief in Christ as the savior is all that matters. How could anyone but Hitler know exactly what he believed?

If you're going to say man is imperfect and untrustworthy, then you have to apply that equally to both religion and science. They both are the product of man. It's fascinating that you can't see the hypocrisy of that.

But Hitler truly believed in his heart that he was doing exactly what God wanted. And he could back it up by directly referencing Bible verses. You're simply applying your personal interpretation of what's important in the Bible. Exactly as Hitler did. He was convinced he was right, just as you are convinced that you're right. And neither you nor Hitler could provide a single item of evidence to support your interpretation. Therefore Hitler's interpretation is just as believable as yours.
