Michael Lombardi said something very interesting on the radio...

They were talking about what went wrong with Scott Pioli in Kansas City and whether the new reporting structure is an improvement.

Lombardi said some really interesting and somewhat profound things during the discussion.

First, he said building cohesion in the staff is of primary importance. He said if the entire staff agrees on how to build the team philosophically, "final say" is pretty irrelevant. He said that sure, there might be arguments about SPECIFIC players but there would never be disagreements about what PROFILE of player the team is looking for.

He said part of the problem with Pioli was that he was trying to recreate the success of the Patriots while coming in with the wrong frame of mind. He said when they all left Cleveland in 1995, they were thoroughly focused on what went WRONG. Belichek went to the Patriots still focused on what went WRONG. Pioli came to KC directly off his success in New England, completely focused on what went RIGHT. It creates a kind of tunnel vision, where the cracks are very hard to see (or are even ignored) and thus the foundation isn't solid.

Andy Reid seems to be setup for more success because he left Philly focused on what went wrong. It gives him an advantage over a guy like Bill Cowher, who left Pittsburgh focused totally on what went right.

Not really.

He's gone.

I don't care if he cures cancer or loses 100 games...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Yep - it's why you rarely see back-to-back champions in anything. Drunk off success, blinders to fault instead of looking for faults with motivation to improve.

Basically, Pioli just proved it was all Brady in NE. Let's get a QB and move on.

For a bunch of guys saying "forget about Scott Pioli" you sure are focused on him. JFC.

The point of posting this was to give everybody a warm fuzzy about WHY ANDY REID WILL SUCCEED.

Dallas Pioli must be ugly as ****, because there are no pictures of her to be found anywhere.

Here's the relevant question:

Is his short form "htis' or 'maqe'?

It's quite irritating. I'm not typing out htismaqe every time I want to reference him making a decent point, but htis is just a jumble of letters that I always type out as 'this' anyway.

Dammit...this is serious shit here.

Stop for a second and imagine the type of woman it would take to know Scotty P, AS A PERSON, and think "that is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with."

I suspect she's some cross breed of harpy, succubus, and Old Hag...

Well, let's be clear, I don't give a shit what he does. Unless he ends up on another AFC West team. I just think it's interesting from an academic perspective.

I'm thrilled to be moving forward. I'm super excited to see what Reid and our new GM will do. That's my focus.

But the OP raises some fair/interesting points.
