I have a friend of mine from the UK that was very supportive of Sean Hanity being banned from England a while back. I’m not a Hannity fan but, figured if guys like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad were still welcome, banning a radio personality because of his conservative views doesn’t really bode well for a enlightened tolerant country like the UK. I’ll be curious to get his take on this issue. I suspect he will fall on the other side of the issue this time.

I think it's our govt that can't tell him that or do that to him, but Americans are free to say whatever they want including telling him to GTFO. Afterall, the First Amendment protects Americans expressing their feelings and opinions too. Most of all, it's customer feed-back. That's allowed.

I didn't argue about his ratings, and I have no idea what the Martin shooting has to do with anything. I assume all the news shows were covering it, and it is still irrelevant to you posting something from more than 6 months ago in order to illustrate that his ratings are bad now.

Actually Newtown and Alex Jones has been the best thing that's happened Piers, but it's that story and one controversial guest for his blip—not him. Still Fox beats him, despite that increase.

You were posting when I did because I was checking his current numbers and saw that already.

Sorry, but it's his long term numbers that will decide his contract, not a temporary ratings boost due to Newtown. Can he maintain it, after 24 months of decline. ( 18 months up to June article and up to December 2012 per this.) He'll need many more Newtowns and Alex Jones visits.

Hannity and Rachel still beat him too. This looks to be temporary...unless he milks this tragedy or decides to put on more controversial guests like Alex Jones.

See here, Piers was struggling right up to December 2012.

According to a New York Post article, the Piers Morgan Tonight show was severely struggling prior to December. The show was struggling so much that CNN was contemplating moving him back to 10pm or even later.

So it is clear to see that Morgan simply gains most his audience from his guests followers and drama, not the minute amount of journalism he possesses. Now, Piers Morgan has got exactly what he wanted. An issue that he can provoke Americans against each other to save his career that was practically over prior to Newtown at the end of his contract.


Why else would Piers bring someone like Alex Jones on to his show? It excites his already volatile viewers and draws more from competitors for a few minutes, who can’t stand him usually but will tune in for the drama that ensues.

Marketing uses trends not temporary boost in ratings. Stupid. I work in advertising.

It has to last to revert a long term declining trend. See my last post before this. He was struggling right up to December 2012. Add the 6 months since June 2012 to December for a two-year decline. That's not so good. It remains to be see if he continues to trend upward based on his skillz and not being handed a tragedy on a platter that would boost anyone. One month does not make a trend.
