Explain to me the difference when you say one should be banned and one should not

Just for fun someone should propose outlawing handguns but offer to give each person an "assault" rifle in exchange for each one they turn it. Rifles of all kinds are a statistically insignificant subset of firearms used in violent crimes. I don’t really want to ban handguns but, I am making a point of logic instead of the emotional response our society and representatives seem to me screaming for.

Yep 328 homicides with a rifle, What kind I don't know. Could be about half were done with so called "assault rifles" Could be 1/3 or fewer.

The purposeful misleading information just kills me. It is perpatrated by a liberal media and govt. who would prefer people owned nothing more than a sling shot. People need to question why that is.
