Why do the Anti-Gun crowd hate women?
Why would you want to make it harder or impossible for a woman to defend herself against rape or sexual assault?

Remember, just because you are the wormy squirly girly man type and most women can kick your ass anyway does not mean there are not others out there she can't and may need a little help to equalize..

It was at the urging of the police that I take the CCW course and practice, practice, practice which I have done. It was also at that point when I conceded to getting a gun.

I had talked extensively with my attorney, the local police, neighbors, security at my workplace and all family members and friends in an effort to avoid a confrontation that ended in gunfire and possible death.

Well, thank you. Not looking for accolades though. I am fully aware had the situation escalated I would have had to 'shoot to kill' which even now seems an unfathomable task and something I don't wish upon anyone to have to face.

Well I first clicked on this thread because of the title. R8ers was being provocative but he is bringing up a valid issue. There are groups of citizens that make use of our rights under the 2nd amendment to guarantee their own safety. Women are an obvious group for one. They've historically had a less powerful position in our society, and still get overtly preyed upon. Once someone can digest that fact my hope is that they can begin to understand why other groups of people would want that same security. And the bottom line is that this is indeed a civil liberties issue. So, if someone on this board fancies themselves as a champion of civil liberty then they have no business trying to disempower our citizenry. It's not a "conservative" vs. "liberal" or Democrat vs. Republican issue to me. It's about whether you want to be part of society that values liberty and personal empowerment or not. It's about respecting the individual.

I have continued to interact with Difleckshun in this thread because he knows he's stuck. He can't argue with my point. So of course he tried attacking me as a poster. Unfortunately for him, because he's a moron, he can't even pull that off. Perhaps it's a cruel streak of mine, but I do enjoy watching him twist in the wind and making a jackass of himself.

I was being facetious with my "women are dangerous" comment of course. That was a horrible story in that link. As a man who was raised by women it particularly disgusted me. I think that, as a human, it should disgust anyone. Good for you for taking the steps to empower yourself in your situation. One of my sisters went through an incident similar to that. It wasn't as serious as yours, but it shook her.

Thank you. Yes, I took your comment in the manner it was intended. It was rather ironic that in my situation either woman was, in fact, dangerous.
Your use of the word "shook" is appropriate too. The range of emotions I felt surprised me and would shake even the strongest person to the core.
