WMD's are chemical, biological, nuclear, or radiological weapons.

Here's a report from the DOD that says munitions containing mustard and sarin gas were found in Iraq.

No nutjob links, but real evidence showing stockpiles of WMD's did in fact exist in Iraq. Just throwing it out for the "bush lied, people died" crowd.

If you had even a BASIC understanding of chemistry you'd know that saying XZY chemical has ABC shelf life is ridiculous right from the onset. Shelf life? Based on what conditions? How much exposure to reactants? At what temperature? Etc etc..

As if that wasn't ridiculous enough... to say "CHEMICAL AGENTS" as if they are all the same and have similar reaction pathways... is even worse.

These concepts aren't hard.

These concepts aren't hard.

And that's probably why the inspectors said THOSE weapons were degraded remants. I think they probably know something on the subject. If for some reason I ever need info on tampons, I'll come to you first.

Facts don't matter, what matters is believing the opinion of anybody who tells me shit I wanted to believe anyway! Doesn't matter that he is currently in PRISON for unlawful contact with a minor and indecent exposure. The only thing I am arguing is that it's incredibly ignorant to say that 500 artillery shells found had a 5 year shelf life and would no longer be potent enough to be considered viable weapons. That is just plain wrong. And both the UN and DoD have stated such.

Scott Ritter (your hero) did NOT make those comments about specific weapons he made the GENERAL statement that chemical weapons have a 5 year shelf life. That statement is wrong. Period. End of story. Factually incorrect and impossible. Here are some of the completely false statements he made that your entire argument is based on...

The justification for war was Iraq not complying with UN Resolution 1441 which forced them to account for their known stockpiles at the time, among other things.

Do you deny or agree with the fact democrats agreed we should go to war against Iraq because of WMD?

Bull shit. Nowhere in this thread did I ever say one word, one way or the other about the justifications of that war. I pointed out the same thing Austin did.

It's one thing to say that a munition of a certain type under certain conditions has a shelf life of X before it is no longer reliable for it's intended purpose.

It's another to say that

a) the chemicals in those munitions are no longer dangerous after the shelf life expires (false)

b) chemical weapons materials in uncertain configurations under uncertain conditions have the same shelf life of X (false)

cosmo20002 makes the mistake of extrapolating from a statement that may contain some truth in narrow circumstances to a sweeping generality that's more untrue than true.

I don't know what "the tipping point for WMD" means, but humans haven't developed any special immunities to mustard gas in the past 97 years.
