...might as well get this started early.

Perhaps his injury well allow him to slip to the middle of the of the 1st round,..where we tend to draft.

Doesn't really change the fact that the hand size argument is stupid when Wilson doesn't actually have any issues handling the ball. Glennon is the butter fingers of the class.

I dont really care. But in the eyes of the scouts, measurements are a big deal. Where do you get your fumble stats? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Teamrankings.com has them, but they were also mentioned during the NFL network practice footage the week before the senior bowl. They specifically mentioned Wilson's hand size and brought this up.

Tyler Wilson (QB, Arkansas): Tyler Wilson is coming off an impressive junior year campaign. Wilson was expected to take the next step and become an elite signal caller for the Razorbacks. This season, Wilson racked up 3,387 yards and 21 TDs, but he also more than doubled his career total with 13 INTs thrown this season.

Against LSU, Wilson made 31 of 52 pass attempts, with one INT and one TD. Wilson’s average snap-to-pass was an NFL-level 2.42 seconds. Wilson crumpled under pressure in the pocket, completing just seven of 20 pass attempts. When facing five or more pass rushers, Wilson completed six of 12 passes. Below is a quick breakdown of Wilson’s throws in the game.

Short passes (0-5 yards): 25 of 34; average snap-to-pass time was 2.38 seconds
Intermediate passes (6-11 yards): 1 of 4; average snap-to-pass time was 2.51
Deep passes (12+ yards): 4 of 16; average snap-to-pass time was 2.42

Wilson tends to stare down his receivers and has trouble being accurate in his pass attempts going over the middle of the field. He consistently underthrew his deep passes and lacks quality fundamentals to throw the football on the run. Wilson is a developmental quarterback who will need time to work on a number of fundamental issues; he could develop into a backup. A number of scouts say Wilson reminds them of current Chief Matt Cassel.

I feel this whole, "his hands are small...uh-oh" thing is blown out of proportion.

Before the news came out that he had "small" hands, I don't recall anybody on this board showing concern over his hand size. Once the news came out at the SR bowl, posters seem to use that against him, even though it never seemed to present a problem.

He has never had a fumbling problem. Contrary to recent scouting reports, people who have actually watched him know he has above average arm strength. "His deep balls flutter"....sometimes, and that is not on account of having small hands entirely. I would peg that on mechanics rather than having small hands. Again, Michael Vick had the same size hands...had no problems getting the ball where he wanted to get it [respectfully].

So this whole hand thing is ridiculous...

It's truly amazing, the differences people see when evaluating. Had to post that.

Yeah...I have read about everything on Wilson.

His mechanical issues/footwork are the only "flaws" that has been consistent with these reports...which I agree with. Everything else has been all over the place....from having good-to-bad accuracy, arm strength, leadership, pre-snap reads, etc. and projected draft rnds of top 10 to 3rd round grades.

Interesting analysis. Odd that they seem to base their evaluation on one game (against LSU). I would say that 2.52 and 2.42 seconds to pass is incredibly fast for college, especially on 12+ yard passes.

The biggest problems with Wilson appear to be (a) he drops his arm on windup, (b) not enough air on deeper passes, (c) he developed bad habits getting his butt kicked in 2012.

I'm not at all concerned about his hand size affecting his performance on the field. We already have enough evidence to suggest he's not a fumbler.

I'm concerned that his hand size will affect his DRAFT STOCK. NFL teams are notoriously OBSESSED with measurables.

Just listen to Buffalo GM Buddy Nix talk about Mike Glennon - "He's got a cannon for an arm. Needs a lot of work on his feet and his accuracy. But oh man, what an arm..."

*I* wouldn't pass on him because of it but several NFL teams WILL.

By the way, you should have left the Vick reference out. He's a fumbling machine.

That is truly the stupidest scout report I have ever seen. I don't know how you can remotely compare Wilson to Matt "fetal position" Cassel. Good god I can't believe some of these people get paid for this drivel.
