Alex Smith to ask for release

http://tracking.si.com/2013/01/28/al...?sct=obnetwork

If no draft picks are involved, does that change your opinion on bringing him in?

Draft pick, Smith, Stanzi(?) as your QB's in camp.

I like it. Can a QB wear the number 23?

If Blackmon can wear 14 I don't see why not.

Keitzman is talking about Alex Smith right now.

He seems to be taking York at his word - Alex Smith isn't going to be available.

It really makes no sense to make him available. Yeah, he is expensive, but with the way they want Kaep to play, he very easily could go down for a period of time and you know you can win with Smith.

However, I just don't see how financially they can do it. They need to extend some other guys who are actually starters.

Well guess what? Recent NFL history suggests that's a complete fantasy. Recent Chiefs history is even more definitive.

If they bring in Smith, he WILL start. Bank on it.
Absolutely. This is like when people thought they'd take Sanchez even after dealing for Cassel. Kiss a 1st round QB goodbye if we sign this retread.

You've got Randy Moss screaming I am the greatest, you've got a corner who hates pillowbiters and you think a player would keep this under wraps?

Not sure where to post this...

NFL salaries by team and position - In addition, team breakdowns on offense, defense and special teams. Also, scroll over the circles:

His salary basically commands he's a starter, even on waivers you pay. No way I'm handing him the keys of the new ride. $8 million isn't chump change.
