Alex Smith to ask for release

http://tracking.si.com/2013/01/28/al...?sct=obnetwork

If no draft picks are involved, does that change your opinion on bringing him in?

Draft pick, Smith, Stanzi(?) as your QB's in camp.

Chiefs should bring in Trent Dilfer out of retirement. He won a Super Bowl so he must be great.

Yeah! Dick Vermiel won a lot of games with the geriatric squad.

If he were HAPPY with that situation, he wouldn't be asking to be released.

This isn't Mensa-level stuff here.

We're not, and never have been, talking about a rookie QB sitting for half a season.

We're not talking about the Blaine Gabbert scenario, we're talking about the Aaron Rodgers scenario. The fanbase absolutely wouldn't stand for it.

So you think Andy Reid is gonna start Cassel for the next year and a half?

If he hits the open market someone is going to seriously overpay him in years and $$$ for him to start for the present and future.

Do we really want to get into a bidding war over Alex Smith? Neh...

P.R. disaster.
Bingo.

And given that a large portion of the fanbase doesn't want a QB AT ALL, the outcry would be enormous.

In the draft? I don't know if I believe this. Yeah, there are some ****tards on talk radio, but I'm not willing to ascribe the majority to these people just yet.

After Geno rapes at his pro day and on Gruden's TV show, people in KC will want him.

High in the draft.

There's a metric shit ton of people out there on Facebook and Twitter than ABSOLUTELY think the best course of action for the Chiefs is:

Joeckel + Alex Smith (or Matt Flynn)

Most of the "****tards" on talk radio are 100% on-board with taking a QB 1-1, at least on the station I listen to.

Cassel is DONE here. I can't believe the possibility of him starting again here to reclaim a draft pick keeps popping up. It is silly.
