Tamba Hali on Cassel

Tamba Hali ‏@TambaHali91
Matt Cassell haven't had a good quarterback coach since Charlie Weis and Josh McDaniels. we know what he did when that chemistry was there.

Tamba Hali ‏@TambaHali91
Guyssss and Gallllsss we can't write everybody off like a piece of paper.

I believe in my boy. Model citizen, loves the game of football. Gives back to the community Just like everybody he wants a fair chance.

A line that will block for him relentlessly. When we had Will Shield, Willie Roaf, Brian waters, KC Weigman, TRENT GREEN WAS THE MAN.

Yes. But in the process he kinda dogged his own O-Line. Multiple players that will be back this year. Multiple players that have actually been good at their job. Cassel won't be back and he's been a terrible QB for 4 years here.

It's mind boggling. HE'S NOT A GOOD QUARTERBACK. HE NEVER WILL BE.

He has no physical OR mental tools. He is not a starting QB in the NFL. He shouldn't even be in the league.

No offensive coordinator, scheme, coaching or players around him will change that.

He's been garbage his whole career, why would that all of a sudden change?

And WTF is up with this "He's a good guy" shit???

So tired of seeing that, what the **** does that have to do with anything? Why do people feel bad for a guy playing football for a living and making $60 million?
I agree that he's been garbage for most of his time here. Just wish him well, because he's not a dick, and he's handled himself with class. Same reason I rooted AGAINST Ray Lewis last week. Ray is a douche, imo, and I hate when douches do well. I tend to think coaching is very underrated and players are vastly overrated.

I blame our coaching much more than I blame Cassel for our lack of success the past several years. Every so often you see a guy come through that clearly sucks and has no business being on the field. But Cassel isn't one of those guys. I think he's a "ho hum" slightly below average starter in the NFL, who was made to look pretty good with a decent scheme and talent, and made to look terrible with OUR coaches. And I would be happy for him if he went to a new (NFC hopefully) team and was very successful.

Isn't that supposed to be the QB's job? Even today, when you see Lenny talk, if he is with a teamate they yield to him. He was the leader of that team.

Seriously, you have to have a strong, charismatic, and capable leader in the huddle. A man that commands respect and people listen to him. That guy is supposed to be the QB.

Is there any wonder why our team is like a rudderless ship adrift in the vast NFL ocean?

So we probably never got a really gauge for how good Matt could have been.
I don't give a shit if he's a raging douchebag.

If he's good, I'm a fan.

Yeah, that's true. I'm just talking about what I HOPE. I always HOPE that the nice guy does well, and root for that. I wouldn't want Ray Lewis on the Chiefs. I find that stuff embarrassing and impossible to root for. I remember when Bill Romanowski was going to be a free agent, and the Chiefs SORELY needed a linebacker. He would have been a perfect fit for us. That said, he was just SO detestable that all of Chiefsplanet agreed, we didn't want guys like that on the team. When the rumors started swirling that we were interested, and after Carl had talks with his agent... The board started a petition, and got those signatures to Carl. It was like a week later that Carl publicly announced we would NOT be pursuing Romanowski. And there was much rejoicing.

The flip side of that coin are under talented players like Mike Maslowski, who do things the right way. You root for those guys.

Even more than that these guys become friends etc...

I would be worried if they let Hali make personnel decisions. They don't so no worries.

Cassel needs to be released like... yesterday. Time to move on. If he becomes a stud somewhere else, fine. Cut bait. The sooner the better.

I don't know how any player on the chiefs team can back Matt Cassel.

I suppose they like losing? What a great mentality we have over at Arrowhead.

I think/hope the new group will foster in the "no excuses, win at all cost" mentality" soon. Whatever it takes to make these men play harder than they have, fear a loss like a family insult, and for the first time REALLY leave it all on the field. I can only guess there's been more "pacing themselves" and "staying healthy for the future" going on than some of the sweat has shown. I'm not asking anybody to kill or maim themselves for a game, but there seems to be too many not going at 100% like a few do.
