Nat'l Security What if Newtown was an Al-Qaeda operation? What changes?

Had this conversation with several people. What if it was a local Al-Qaeda operation or it was a operation coordinated by Al-Qaeda instead of a mentally ill USA citizen.

What would have changed in America? 20 kindergartener/1st graders killed in their classrooms. How does it change when we find out who was holding the gun?

Would it have scared America more? Would we have increased security everywhere? What if the Al-Qaeda killers originated from Lebanon, Yemen, the Congo etc. would we send troops in? crusie missiles, boots on the ground?

Which options do you think would have happened?

Massive move to increase security at schools including armed guards. Drone strikes and Tomahawks would be used to put on a show for the country but they'd be largely ineffective.

Besides if this was Al Qaeda they would have only killed the girls. Education for women is a big no no, because it means they might say no to getting married at 9 to someone in their 50s.

If it was Al Quaeda then people would apologize for them and say we deserve this for being in the middle east. Then they would just come up with some whack theory that the government did it.

Under your fable, we'd be talking about killing the assholes who did this and those who helped them do it. We wouldn't be going after the manufacturers of the backpacks they built their bombs in.
We'd be talking about finding assholes like them and making it so they were no threat to our children.

So, I guess we need to start hunting down goofy looking loners who live in their mother's basements and either having seals crush their skulls, drone strikes on their game chairs, or send them to Gitmo.

One thing that would be looked and and likely legislated against is how they obtained their weapons. If they smuggled them along with themselves into the US, the focus would be on border security. However, if they came here on visas and obtained guns whether through private sale, licensed sale, or having them shipped, it would be a hot topic.

Also yeah, I agree that schools would be armed.
