So Im (finally) having knee surgery tomorrow.
I tore my ACL and Miniscus on Oct 4th. I was suppose to have surgery Dec 20th but sickness interfered. Then it got cancelled 2 more times due to illness (This cold and flu season have been brutal). Its now upon me, and Im still dodging sick people and totally stressed. Scared as hell too. Not so much of the surgery (altho, thats scary too), but the aftermath. Im not big on pain pills, and I never taken one. Hoping I can power thru it without taking drugs of the narcotic type.

I have an ice machine ready, and lots of PT schyeduled. Any other tips for recovery and pain management?

Well it's all done. My knee is repaired. The surgery went well, but the antethesia part did not. I feel like shit, but happy the surgery is over. Now, it's on to recovery...

A cooler -filled with ice-then fill it with water.
with a motor-it will ciruclate water for many hours over your knee.

GREAT COLD RELIEF THAT CUTS DOWN ON PAIN AND SWELLING.
It was great after being on my feet teaching all day.

My ice machine has been a miracle worker. I have it on 24/7, it's set at 43 degrees and I have been managing the pain without meds besides Advil and Tylenol. Grateful and lucky.
I'm bored to hell tho. Luckily my radio station will bring the equipment to my house tomorrow and I will be doing my show from my bedroom.
"KOMP 92.3 live from Carlotas Bedroom." I have tons of imaging and get well wishes from a variety of bands, like Three Days Grace, Adelitas Way and Deftones to name a few. I can't wait. I. Bored to tears and dying to get back to work. Should be fun.
