I really think that Ralph Peters is at least as informed as you are. Leaving aside our efforts to build defenses, I don't have any reason to believe we're doing anything effective given that the cyber attacks continue.

Did you read the article? It's not about playing defense or patching private sector applications. It also intimates that the private sector aren't the only networks that have been hit (which is also something I thought you suggested a few days ago when you said something about the Chinese getting all of our nuclear secrets).

BTW the nuclear secrets were stolen under Reagan. Not discovered until the mid 90's.

Is it? You are quick to blame Obama for these attacks. You should really be blaming the CEO's of these big corporations. they chose to profit more and more instead of spending some of that money on Information Security.

All of these exploits that have happened are well known. If they had patched in a timely manner, paid more money for additional security and tools it wouldn't have happened. Maybe they will wake the **** up now.

The Chinese economy is stalling. There is mumblings of unrest. They need to steal our economic secrets and apply them to their economy to stay ahead of being overthrown by the people.

Obama proposed sharing security info with our private business's. The military hasn't been hacked in a long time that wasn't a human error on our side. That if the in place rules were followed, it wouldn't have happened. Private business needs to get to that level of security, human error.

But that would entail government regulation, dictates from the black booted geeks of Obama's regime.

Does your logic only apply to cyber attacks? I mean, if they start bombing hospitals and shopping malls, should Obama stay out of it since those are private businesses?

What would you have him do? Create a global WWIII because businesses are too lazy to patch correctly?

And we stop the Chinese some way some how, the holes in security are still there to be exploited. they will be and then just sold to the Chinese or to the highest bidder.
