If a United States city is nuked this morning

... does the government retaliate with its nuclear weapons?

(poll should be forthcoming)

They do know that. This is bluff and bluster because of our threats toward Iran. The right over reacts and the NeoCons salivate that another reason to attack someone first has arrived.

I agree with this. If it's a single nuke, chances are that it wasn't launched by an easy retaliation target.

Well, what if the NeoCons, including born-again NeoCon Obama and his NeoCon left/Democrats.
( Huffo Post types ) decide to bomb and invade Iran openly? I think we' could also be at war with NK and then China as well.

I think Obama has too much trouble on his plate to kick it off with iran right now.

This country just isnt ready for a massive war like that right now imo, our military needs a rest and a refit with new equipment, 10+ years of war? yeah, its time for a break.

If we attack Iran openly, it won't be a case of the US attacking Iran first. Iran has been committing acts of war against us for a decade or more now. Our leadership has been restrained to a fault.

I would hope so but there's some up there in DC itching for another. They're not exactly rational. So I don't 'pect this kind of logic from them.

I think in that situation, you re-set the bar with what the world understands "death by hulk smash" to be.

I would want the response, nuclear or not to be so severe that Vlad the Impaler would say "damn guys".

Obama would probably just have a nice cry on TV and apologize for whatever we did to deserve it.

I don't think any Western leader would retaliate with nukes.

In America's case, I'd guess a lot of state dept. bleeding hearts would say it's unethical / inhumane to nuke N Korea over Jong Un's stupidity.

The UN, as worthless as they are, would also be right pissed off too.

Invade Iraq is always a good catch-all response.

In all likelihood, this is less likely to happen (and if it does, further in the future) thanks to GWBush.

Pretty much this.
