Patteeu, you have got to see this!!

A new film coming out by a guy named R.J. Cutler..."The world according to Dick Cheney".

A fascinating documentary, seriously, love him or hate him its going to be good. I actually loved the guy at one time, wanted him to be President over George. My opinion of him changed dramatically over the years. I cant wait to see it.

Probably the opposite. The media dismisses or flat out ignores Biden's idiocy. Perhaps the media hold Palin to a higher standard.

I just saw the movie. It made me incredibly sad of our nation.

I can't believe America has lied into another war after the Gulf of Tonkin. Then you see Cheney years later and you know how it happened. Thousands of lives lost because of a lie sold to the American people. Thats just not on Dick Cheney but on us.

History will not be kind to Dick Cheney.

Nor should it be. Lying to the country to enter a war is as low as it gets.

I watched the movie tonight. What really stood out to me was the number of Republicans that were interviewed during the movie and the number that of those that had unpleasant views of Cheney. According to he movie, Bush and Cheney's relationship was severely strained during their last term and that strain stemmed from Cheney's lying to the President. You never know if the directors and producers have an agenda when filming these documentaries, but if half of this documentary is true Cheney was a complete asshole and lied to the American people to gain support for the war in Iraq.

It's impossible to know whether there's any truth to the notion that he lied to the President during private conversations although President Bush wrote a memoir and doesn't make that accusation. It's clear that Cheney lost influence in the second term, but there's no reason to think that that's because he lied. One of the biggest sources of strain between the two, according to both of their books, was President Bush's decision not to pardon Scooter Libby. Cheney repeatedly went to bat for Libby in private meetings with the President and despite his admiration for the President, he felt somewhat betrayed by the way POTUS refused to fully exonerate Libby.

It's much easier to judge Cheney's public statements (in terms of whether or not he lied to the American people to gain support for the war). We don't need a documentarian to decide for us and, without having watched the show, I'm confident that the filmmaker doesn't expose any such thing.

The film does actually make a very compelling case that Cheney lied to the president concerning the legality of continuing their surveillance activities without the Department of Justice's approval. This was backed up by both Republicans and Democrats.

I'll have to watch the movie to know what you're talking about, but I can't count the number of times people have tried to call an opinion Cheney held (that they disagree with) or a single misstatement out of thousands of speaking opportunities proof that Cheney lied us into war.
