Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

You're both right and wrong.

The 88-91 Pistons gave the Bulls everything they'd ever wanted. They were the Everest the Bulls had to climb. That's not the '93-95 Pistons, which were piles of shit.

The Knicks were far better teams in '92 and '93 than '94, but they were fortunate to dodge a Jordan-less Bulls and overcome a not-yet-ready Pacers team. They ultimately dropped from the ranks of contenders, then rebuilt themselves with Van Gundy into a group of muggers who won 75-73 streetfights in the mid-late 90s.

The Pacers didn't hit their stride until about '96. From that point they were the Bulls' stiffest challenge in the East.

Lots of talent today. Coaches are having a hard time making them into teams nowadays though. I sound old, but I think it's a generation thing. As crazy as it sounds, I think the egos are even more out of control now than ever making it harder for coaches. A lot more kids coming into the league now that aren't ready plays a part in that (thanks to the one and done, not all are like that though, but heck most don't even make it in the league 5 years).

The NBA has to be viewed through several different prisms. The NBA of about '83-'93 was a golden age. By '94 the offensive quality of the league started to drop precipitously and the quality of basketball slowly declined throughout the rest of the decade. By 2000 it was nearly unwatchable, but the rules changes, and two great teams that should have won titles but had them stolen, the Kings and Suns, helped to usher in a much better and more interesting brand of basketball with influences from European styles of play.

Whoa, so you mean a Free Agent went to a team where he had the greatest chance to win a title? WTF!?? Glad this doesn't happen in any other sport.

That's where I would favor the old NBA. The teams today don't play the team basketball. Raw talent wise it's very impressive right now though.

I agree with you 100%

You are way out in left field here. The Knicks took the Bulls to 7 one year... then the next year had home court advantage and took a 2-0 lead on the Bulls in the ECF.

During the 2nd three-peat the Pacers pushed the Bulls to the max. You need to go watch those games. They were absolute battles to the death. The 98 Pacers/Bulls series might be one of my favorite playoff series of all time. They made Jordan and Pippen look human.

Everybody looks back on these things as if they were all forgone conclusions for the Bulls. They absolutely were not.

You should be informed enough to know that with the new CBA teams aren't going to be able to follow Miami's model because the tax will ****ing fist them. Why do you think OKC dumped Harden for 40 cents on the dollar?

They dont play team basketball because they dont need to. Form an all star team and play 5 on 5 backyard basketball
