Why people laugh at Creationists

Taking a lead from Killer Clown I thought I'd create a alternative thread to post some videos I like...

[EDIT New video here]

So on with the show:

Here's the Kent Hovind Theory:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.
Do not believe in traditions simply because they have been handed down for many generations.
But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

If they kept it to themselves, fine. But generally the goal is to have it replace or at least be taught as equal to evolution in schools. It dumbs down society, and this stuff matters. What would the country and the world be like if difficult questions (scientific questions) were simply answered with, "Well, God did it" or "We can't look too closely into that--the Bible gives an explanation and that's good enough."

I think I would think that it is super weird how out of the entire universe and the millions of celestial bodies there seems to be only one place that is perfectly suited to sustain life. Then I would think about how out of the 1000s of types of life on the planet, there is only one that has the ability to restrain their natural impulses, only one that is able to wonder, to worry, to hate, to love. Since I don't like science (being a numbers girl myself) I would be super respectful of those that love immersing themselves in the science to understand it all. I would ponder it all and be humbly amazed and not think I have all the answers. I would also wonder if someone/something designed it that way.

2 quick things:

There is a very good chance other intelligent life exists elsewhere in the univierse. It so large and we only have discovered a fraction of it, that we cannot say for sure there is or is not intelligent life.
But google the Drake Equation, it breaks down the odds of other life existing

Also other animals, specifically other apes, can demonstrate similar behavior to humans.
They may not ponder their existence, but they can love and hate just like any human

I am not arguing that life does not exist on other planets but i am arguing that it is extremely rare since of all the known planets stars etc how many (1) can sustain life and (2) have life. So far I know of only one.

Sustain life as we know it, or any possible life? Define "Life"...

We've actually already found thousands of planets that would sustain life as we know it. Although we haven't directly found life on any of those planets because they're too far away to determine that. But we now know that planets capable of sustaining life are much more common than ever thought. There's one we recently found that's only a mere 12 light years away. That's like our backyard in cosmic terms.

And the really interesting part is that we've only looked at way less than 1% of the actual universe to find that.

A person can be a creationist and accept evolution. There is no contradiction. If you take only one thing from this thread, take that.

In regards to the bolded above... I think it's a matter of flipping your mindset.

Yes, the earth might be the only celestial body we're aware of that is perfectly suited to support human/earth life.

That doesn't mean that different life forms can't develop and evolve into sentience on other planets, in different conditions, in different forms.

It's less about some all-knowing, benevolent creator with a plan setting the earth the perfect distance from the sun to support life and much more about life on this planet adapting and evolving to the environment around it.

If/when humanity does find another sentient species out there, odds are good that they live on a celestial body that is perfectly suited to support their life and development just like earth supports its species.

Of course, odds are also good that it won't be best friends at first sight, but that's a different conversation...

It's called an ongoing conversation but I wouldn't suspect someone of your low means and mental ability to be able to understand that.
