I went to Universal Studios with my family on vacation when I was about 10 or 12 and the highlight of our tour that I remember was seeing the potomkin-like house front from the intro to Leave It To Beaver.

Apparently, you can't see it on the tour anymore since it's been moved to a backlot, but you can see the house from the 1996 LITB movie.

Anyone remember the Lost Beavers on the radio? That was some funny shit.

I credit shows like Leave it to Beaver with creating counter-productive national nostalgia for idyllic America that never really existed. Still my favorite show watching the reruns growing up. Ward always sorted everything out. Very comforting.

It was a really stupid show.
I think that's a little harsh. It would be stupid by today's standards, but television was a lot different back in the late 1950s. You couldn't have storylines where Beaver got hooked on cocaine or got seduced by Miss Landers, so they were stuck with plots like Eddie pretending he was hypnotized and Beaver falling into a giant coffee cup.

I grew up watching that show. And how could ANYONE not have the hots for Miss Landers?
