Kansas Governor Brownback signs 2nd Amendment Protection Act into law

http://blog.tenthamendmentcenter.com...-act-into-law/

Quote:
Any act, law, treaty, order, rule or regulation of the government of the United States which violates the second amendment to the constitution of the United States is null, void and unenforceable in the state of Kansas.

The second amendment to the constitution of the United States reserves to the people, individually, the right to keep and bear arms as that right was understood at the time that Kansas was admitted to statehood in 1861, and the guaranty of that right is a matter of contract between the state and people of Kansas and the United States as of the time that the compact with the United States was agreed upon and adopted by Kansas in 1859 and the United States in 1861.

So you are saying the civil war was about slavery?

What is it about the current gun regulations that make them so satisfactory that your war is unnecessary right now?

It is not a completely unregulated area. There is a bigger difference between no regulation and the current scheme than there is between the current scheme and some of the proposals voted down in the Senate yesterday.

What about the 2nd Amendment could cause the Second Civil War? Expanding background checks to all gun transactions?

Just because people are willing to fight a war for liberty doesn't mean that is their preferred method.

Most do not want war, therefore what happened in the senate yesterday will cause people to settle down just a bit and continue to try the peaceful and democratic way. But I promise you, there is a storm brewing out there. People are getting fed up with the nonsense. And I'm not just talking guns. Guns are just the tipping point in all of it.

Yeah but, those people don't like guns so they won't be starting any war.

Did this kind of stuff happen when Bush, Bush, or Reagan was in office?

Were states constantly at battle with the Federal Government during their terms?

I'm not being a smartass, I just don't remember.

If you think it's bad now, you should have seen it post-WWII in southern states.

I am not minimizing it. I am putting in its proper context. It was a state's rights issue. Along with several other issues that fell under the the same scope.

Robert E. Lee did not walk away from a successful and brilliant career in the U.S. Army to fight for slavery. He fought for Virginia.

I can understand why it was bad back then.

It just seems like this is the worst it's been in my (short) lifetime.
