Some things you may have overlooked or didn't know about recent news

Things you may not know:

  • The software code that is supposedly used to do the data mining of the phone numbers and internet habits was given away by the NSA to the public 2 years ago.
Why would they do that? Publicly, it was a PR move simliar to NASA saying the billions spent is paid back to society in advancing tech for us all. See....the billions we spend on security have a benefit to us beyond security. It's created a boon in I. T. Lots of jobs and helps USA businesses compete with other countries.

I'm sure Taco John has a job today based on that free code that NSA released. You no longer need huge data centers and millions of $'s of equipment to perform data mining at this level. This has the potential to change every single parts of our lives.

But, if its publicly posted doesn't that mean our enemies have it now? So again, why would the NSA not care if it released the code?

  • If I'm gone 18 hours without notice, the security and police will be looking for me. Within 36 hours the military. This is normal.
They knew he was gone. He bought a ticket in his name for Hong Kong. He's been paying for his room with a credit card in his name. Why did this guy tell the world about how we are using the code after 3 weeks of not reporting to work? Where was the NSA?

  • Snowden couldn't stay at one location because he was too weird and had no social skills in the work place. He was like Manning. He just had access to a network where "stuff" was, not work with that "stuff". He didn't have access to the "Prism" stuff. Only knew of its existence, not the details or its technical capabilities.
  • A new social profile is emerging of someone that may betray their country not for money/sex/power etc. but for political reasons.
  • Just because you have "Top Secret" clearance doesn't mean you actually see any of the "Top Secret" stuff. If you log on to a network or enter a building where "Top Secret" stuff is, you must have that clearance. That means the person who cleans the bathrooms, cooks the burgers in the cafe, cleans the floors etc. You still have to have a need to know and access is closely monitored using various technologies. You can't just surf around.

I'm asking you guys to put your critical thinking hats on and tell me what conclusion you came to.

First one with the correct answer wins.

I saw it. So he left, didn't return, they got suspicious and fired him. Seems typical.
