Jindal - elequent statement or stepping on his dick?

Most have focused on the penultimate paragraph

Their philosophy does not work and it got our nation into the mess it’s in.
The blogosphere is abuzz about this, and the main critiques are;

1) it's not true [without any expansion, explanation, differentiation or defense]

2) critiquing the opposition means he's not reflecting on and refining his own views and is therefore the same as every Rush, Levin, and Palin out there.

So I pose to partisans of any and all stripes. What to make of this new posture?

Frankly though you could change a few words here and there and it would could easily come out of a democrats mouth. The parties are both functionally the same.

What I found hilarious regardless of it it's true or not is to me it's an eloquent example of hypocrisy.

Here to me is the really juicy bit.

Quote:
moral standards are passť
There is no one at all on either side that has ever said that. The problem for both sides is that they believe that their discriminatory moral standard is ok and the other sides discriminatory moral standard is not ok. That to me is really the emperor has no clothes moment for both sides.

Frankly both discriminatory moral standards have no business being codified into law. You want to believe it fine, no one should control what you think. But making laws against shit just because you don't like it is ****ed. If you don't like it fine, either prove that we NEED to make a law because the harm is serious and we can show the law will create a benefit(and if it doesn't it should be struck from the books), or work to actually convince people that your moral position is what they should CHOOSE to follow...not be COMPELLED to follow.

If people don't intelligently choose to adhere to your position well here's a shocker...maybe it's wrong....

Hilarious. Its the same type of hyperbole and false generalizations that the Rs have been tossing out for years. I did like how he bitches about the nanny state, then criticizes the left for believing "pornography is fine."

He's got some good points, but he definitely seems to have forgotten that for those looking to take a stand against big government, it means associating with the party of fetal masturbation, legitimate rape, birtherism, and criticism of talking points over embassy security.

Being told that by being left of those guys also means that you think "reporters should be spied on," "the earth is flat," or that the "IRS should violate our constitutional rights" isn't very persuasive.

Jindal - elequent statement or stepping on his dick?

I can't see how anyone would argue that it's "elequent," but its not outrageous, either. It's pretty much cut and paste from the political demagogue-ing play book.

1) find something narrowly supported by few on one side of the political spectrum and attribute that to the entirety of opponents.
2) misrepresent an issue the opponents support to the point of making it absurd.
3) find an issue that both sides have struggled with, and pin the wrongdoing all on opponents' side.

It's fine. 90% of politicians or political commentators do it. Those inclined will buy it hook line and sinker, others will find kernels of truth within the swath of BS, and others will dismiss the message solely due to the BS. What I know of you, BL, your intelligence, and political leanings, when it comes to this particular quote, I expect you will search for the kernels of truth, and toss out the chaff. There are others who will read it and honestly think, "That is 100% true!!!"

But I do wonder why this particular quote was singled out for outrage or analysis, when the exact same tack is applied, across the political spectrum, on a daily basis.
