Will these Obamacare steps benefit you or your family?

You forgot a few major ones too...

One that I can think of is standardizing the language and making more simple the explanation of all of the types of plans...

Another is having exchanges and being able to look at these new standard plans and be able to shop / compare the costs very easily...

The Exchanges don't exist yet. Hard to have an opinion.

Well, it is a theory / idea...I personally find it not very difficult to like (have a positive opinion on) the IDEA.

Of course no one can have an opinion on the realities yet....

#5 really is hard to say is a benefit. In theory it should be but in reality rates will still rise (in almost every case this has been shown to be true so far) so you can't seriously count this one unless somehow your only goal is to see diminished profits for insurance companies and that will benefit you. Not sure how that works unless you have some scheme to short insurance stocks.

Oh and I'm healthy (knock on wood) and have no family to support so the rest don't do me any good at all.

This kind of short term thinking is why we have to implement ideas like Obama Care by force

the insurance pool currently has too many sick people, and not enough young and healthy people

forcing all of the healthy, young people into the insurance pool is seems to be the only way to spread the risk enough to lower prices

There is nothing at all short term about my thinking. The question is whether those benefits apply to me. Currently they do not. Ask me again in 20 years and my answer may be different. Did you want me to LIE about the "benefits?" That may be the norm for progressives but it isn't for me. I try to stick with facts and accuracy as much as possible.

In theory the answer is yes to both...

In fact you should have more choices instead of less...There are many people (me included) who have plans like Kaiser where you are forced to see a doctor in that plan's list.

With this AFA, you are supposed to be able to have the opportunity to choose from your current plan or a number of other plans...

have you seen anything that would lead you to think you'd be forced to switch doctors or plans?

Do you know how reading comprehension works? Since a time frame was not specified it should be assumed he means now not in some hypothetical future. If he asked "which of these benefits applies to you or might someday possibly?" then again I would probably answer differently.

The basic problem is the entire premise. It really doesn't matter if they EVER apply to ME the point is that most of those are actual tangible benefits for many Americans ...I find it hard for anyone to argue otherwise (except #5 which is utter bullshit) BUT the important factor should be "at what cost?" Are those benefits worth the cluster**** that is Obamacare? Do we accept this half ass bandaid solution which mostly serves to prop up the failed medical establishment and big insurance? I LOATHE the idea of single payer but it is miles better than Obamacare. Miles. Walk in the middle of the road like this and eventual you get hit.

WHose fault is it that a single payer system can't even be on the table?

Life is filled with compromises and steps...thats what politics IS.

We couldnt pass single payer, we BARELY were able to do what we did as a nation...

We cant even ****ing fill potholes......

Baby steps..

It is flawed logic to say that if we don't solve every single problem, we shouldn't bother taking steps...that gets zero accomplished.

And I'm the imbecile? Pull your oversized head out of your stretched ass and think about the nonsense you are posting for a second.

I am not saying we should pass single payer, I am saying it is better than this but worse than letting the current system continue to fail in areas and causing a complete free market restructure. Instead what you advocate is more of the same but just shifting the burden on to employers and healthy Americans. Yay! That will do wonders for the economy and it really does SO much to address medical waste and a bullshit big insurance industry! Nice work. Talk about someone being completely short sighted.
