Obamacare is postponed one year for...

...large corporations.

ObamaCare is still going into effect in 2014, but one key component of it is being temporarily shelved. The White House today postponed by one year a rule requiring employers to either provide coverage to employees or face hefty fines, reports the Wall Street Journal. The rule will take effect in 2015, instead of 2014...

It is better to duck the rising premium during the election year. Smart move!

It's basically one of those hijinks that, under normal circumstances, wouldn't fly.

Since it's something nobody actually wants, I doubt a soul will raise any stink.

Who the hell wants to go on record defending this policy?

Like it or not its here to stay. SCOTUS says its constitional. You need 60 votes in the Senate and the Presidency to repeal. And with the Republican party in a demographic death spiral, that ain't going to happen ever.

The sooner that they realize its better to improve Obamacare, the better for us all.
You'll be waiting a while, unfortunately.

You're basically going to need the Republican fever to break.

We're probably about a decade away from that.

I understand the mechanics but Obama signed the bill. Without his signature, it wasn't law. Therefore he was 1/2 the equation. Furthermore he openly campaigned on it in 2012 and was re-elected. If Romney was elected, he could submit budgets that don't include funding for Obamacare and only the Senate would be able to block it. (Too bad the Dems had full control in 2010 when the abortion happened)
This is a reasonable point of view -- except for the last sentence in parentheses, there.

Again, Democrats had almost no options since the Republican Party refused to cooperate in any formation of a Romneycare-esque overhaul of the American healthcare system. So, since the Dems were unable to sacrifice a single Democratic vote, had to make sure that 100% of the on-the-fence Dems would be protected for supporting the law.

American businesses were one of many organizations that the Dems turned to. One of the areas businesses put their foot down on was that they did not want to have to provide healthcare coverage on a per capita basis. They preferred to have it applied in this arbitrary 50+ employee basis -- simply because it affected very few of them.

But the application of that rule will have wide consequences, and it's simply poor policy. It needs to be repaired.

2, they struck down the mandatory expansion of Medicaid portion of the bill. Wihtout this mechanism to expand reach, Obamacare won't really work anyway. So no, SCOTUS didn't simply rule in favor of Obama's plan although you O-Bots think they did.
Explain yourself.

what is the solution? repeal the act before we even TRY the exchange system?

I have good health care, and I won't lose it.....so I'm not worried for myself...

I'm old anyway.

I am just curious if anyone has answers to these questions, or if its just "no cuz Obama'

I never voted for Obama either time, and left the Democratic party to become independant...but I mean I can't help but notice how ****ed health care is for a lot of people as I get older...

exchanges seem like a good idea, whats bad about them?

Not Joe the Plumber, not really anybody.

This is one of those things the executive branch is just going to do -- but what Congressman on earth is going to make the administration enforce this, and wear it around their neck come election time?

Not a single Republican soul.

Fortunately, we do not make policy solely on making your life easier, but making the country stronger.

Should the United States government pass policy only to make Direckshun's life easier? Of ****ing course not.

But it's perfectly fine to feel that way about mlyonsd, I guess. Unless I've ridiculously misunderstood your point.

Sure it is. Obamacare has already bent the cost curve of healthcare over much of the country, just as it has happened in Massachussetts under Romneycare -- imagine that.

But the people that will benefit the most are the people on the lower end of the middle class, and the people that will benefit the most are the working poor. They are Priority A1 on this bill, and Priority A2 was to bend the cost curve for almost everybody else.
