Obamacare does not lower the cost curve and govt mandates have always pushed up the cost curve because it pushes the demand curve. You're living in a dream world if you think govt can do this anyway. It's why healthcare costs spiraled out-of-control already. Somewhere, it will have to be paid for, if govt engages in cost controls. Usually it happens in speed and quality of service. The market will have the last say and there wills still be complaining and dissatisfaction.

So, none of those things you listed in your poll will benefit everyone as it will be paid for somewhere else. So our costs to the doctor are much higher but hidden as it is displaced.

As usual healthcare socialists, and socialists in general, are clueless about economics.

Holy shit! No wonder you support Obama. You are economically clueless.
What is the most bang for "our" buck is different for millions of individuals in this country. Govt can't determine that for everyone. You're making a collectivist argument when you claim to speak for all of us.

They have no money. They go to the ER and or admitted to the hospital. Hospital can bill they person, but they are not going to get any money. Who pays the bill? We do with $10 aspirin, $21 bandages etc.
And who caused that to happen? The government with another mandate just like the ACA mandate. That was an other collectivist solution. Doing the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity.

Too bad.

Over the last thirty years all colleges have largely morphed from a tenure model to the model used by for-profit colleges: high churn through the use of adjunct instructors.
That's good for me since I've been an adjunct as a working professional—far better than a professor who lives in an Ivory Tower.

Consequently, almost every college in America has cut or will cut the hours of non-tenure track or tenure-track faculty so that they don't have to provide them with health care.
Well, never mind the professors, students have already been dropped off insurance due to Obamacare, right after the election. Ha, ha, ha ideas have consequences...and there are going to be more casualties.

Quote:
That said, cutting someone's hours to deny them coverage that should be a right anyway is not a flaw of the law itself, but of universities treating themselves like corporations.
It's not a right—no matter how much you folks on the left want to repeat that lie a la Goebbels.

It's a ****ed up system that Obamacare has done such a great job of propping up and allowing us to live under for the foreseeable future. THAT is the main reason I LOATHE this short sighted half assed "solution." And let me be clear, this is not a partisan thing. BOTH parties are catering to the insurance industry just in different ways.

It would be like if the Democrats decided to institute National Food. ("Affordable Eating Act"). In it we'd have a mix of government and business entities providing food for all Americans regardless of cost. Those who eat a lot would enjoy being subsidized by those who don't - Skinny folks might be told: :"ou might become a fat ass too and need the program." Hey, food is a necessity right?

Imagine what it would do to price signals to have the government program **shield** the consumer from the providers. Acting as middleman. Pricing would become skewed immediately and costs would jump by introducing a layer of bureaucracy.

Collectivist argument using the word "us." They're leeching off because the govt lets them due to earlier govt intervention in this market using another mandate. Yet, you're all for another mandate.

Besides how many of these "young unmarried citizens" are doing this compared to illegal aliens?

You got a number? Nope.

have you seen anything that would lead you to think you'd be forced to switch doctors or plans?
Seriously, has the left learned anything from all the past interventions and welfare in the healthcare markets? I guess not. Medicaid, Medicare....all these programs skyrocketed beyond govt projected costs. The same will happen here. If you think it's bad now, you just wait.

More govt is not the solution. That's the CAUSE of the healthcare problem.

It is cute BRC is angered by young Americans "leeching" but not by illegal aliens leeching. Talk about weird logic.

If Obamacare is so good, BRC, then why is it being delayed by a whole year?

Those guys know what's going to happen with layoffs, few new hires. They know. That's why they're doing it—because there is an election. DISHONEST as hell! They get away with it because too many are ignorant and ill informed about how markets actually work.

Let's see:

1. Higher premiums/taxes
2. Higher premiums/taxes
3. Higher premiums/taxes
4. Higher premiums/taxes
5. Not sure it affects me
6. Higher premiums/taxes

I voted Screw Obamacare. America needs healthcare reform and some of the kernels of ideas in Obamacare are worthy of consideration, but the current shape of the plan is an abomination just like most of what this administration does (especially because the most important aspect of the health care problem, i.e. skyrocketing costs, wasn't addressed).
