nuke option?

So Harry Reid threaten again with abolishing the filibuster and replacing it with a simple majority vote. Mitch McConnell says its an affront to democracy and everything America stands for. Honestly I don't get it. Are Republicans so timid that there have accepted never to get a majority in the senat? In the last two elections the republicans could and should have won seats in Missouri, Indiana, Nevada and Delaware with somewhat semi decent candidates. If the republicans were able to win all the senat seats in rock solid red states there would have an inbuilt majority in the senat.
On day there will be republican president (probably 2016) and a republican majority in a the senat .
What I'm trying to say is that republicans shouldn't be so timid. Look to the future and don't believe the propaganda that the next 10 presidents will all be democrat.

When Republicans were threatening to curb filibusters, it was Harry Reid saying the same things Mitch McConnell is saying now. I don't buy in to the whacky theory that both parties are virtually the same ideologically when you get past their slogans and campaign rhetoric, but in this respect they actually are.

What we need is to have both sides ****ing chill out and work together to forge legislation that has backing by both parties.

I think a filibuster option is a good thing for this.

Or, we need a 3rd party who can work together with either of the two main parties on various issues to overcome filibusters, and get coalitions going.

Getting rid of filibusters doesn't solve anything, it just allows shitty partisan legislation through.

IMO anyway, I'm not 100% but thats how I feel right now.

I prefer gridlock—it's actually better for the country because these clowns can't pass more laws running our lives and screwing up the world.

Do you think your local county has more influence on your life than Washington?

Far as I know, it's just with executive appointments.

I support it so long as it stays that way. I prefer a filibuster over no filibuster on legislation, though I prefer a "standing filibuster" over the one we have now.
