Iranians making threats against the US and The First Family

http://dailycaller.com/2013/09/05/ir...us-hits-syria/

I'm not a fan of President Obama but this direct threat to our country and the family of the President makes my blood boil. Someone in Tehran needs to put a muzzle on this guy before he gets himself killed.

No, this works in practical application on this issue, including the broader ME. There is no threat to us, this has nothing to do with our national security or our credibility. Nada. It's hawkish progressivism....the same kind that destroyed federalism in the US using the noble lie and quest to right wrongs. Reagan would not support any of this per his points in his autobio, which Laura Ingraham pointed out last night was well.

The whole notion that foreign policy success should be measured by what the leaders of generally-unfriendly countries say is kind of ridiculous.
It seems odd that you don't think a foreign policy should be measured by it's results, including the actions and statements of the leaders of generally unfriendly countries.

I won't try to guess what a long-dead president might or might not do today. Leaving that to you, I wonder how you can say that there is no threat to us when the entire reason for this thread is for us to discuss a very direct and extraordinarily disgusting threat to the families of elected, appointed and voluntary U.S. officials. No threat? Really? How are you able to turn off your ears and eyes so effectively in favor of ideological dogma?

The threat is inexcusable. Wouldn't bother me if they took that guy out.

No, it's not. Meaningfully threatening to kidnap and kill our citizens is an act of aggression. Meaningfully threatening to kidnap and kill our President is an act of war. Non-aggression doctrine does not dictate that you roll over and wait for someone to kill you. It simply dictates that you don't initiate aggression. There is nothing inherently leftist, or progressive, or hawkish about responding to aggression.

It depends on the situation. These incidents are exactly why we have an "intelligence community." If some nut with a camera and a mic is yelling, 'Death to America!" then we don't take that as a meaningful threat. If a political/religious/social leader with access to/control of a covert tactical network releases a mission statement outlining specific threats to our elected officials, then we investigate it and determine the legitimacy of the threat. If that threat can be determined as legitimate then we are justified in using assassination.
