Where does eveyone stand on smoking bans?

I think it should be up to the owner, and would even be willing to have it up to the owner if you have to be 21 to enter. City wide is bullshit IMO

I still see plenty of bars here in Colorado and the smoking ban has been in effect for more than 6 months.

Well from what I know you have to step 20 feet out the building which is more then likely the street and smoke which in itself is illegal.

agreed ..... but smoking is invasive

if someone was walking around with a tank of toxic gas that was leaking and making people sick, would you want somebody to stop them?

walk into a resturant to eat ... leaking toxic gas .... if everyone in the resturant gets sick, then it's their own dam fault for breathing in a public place?

Well your perception of Colorado and Missouri is different. I've worked this bar for 6 years and know my patrons. So your opinion means nil. So until you come to my bar in Missouri you have no clue.

I'm all for proprietors throwing people out who can't keep to themselves. If that's because of kids, or a drunk buddy, or whatever.

Sadly the first guy that does that is going to get sued into oblivion.

If it was up to assholes like you children would still be working in coal mines.

Go douse yourself in gas and light up.

You equate an adult working in a bar with smokers to children working in coal mines. What a fucking moron you are. You should come to Union Station in Chicago sometime. You can no longer smoke cigarettes on the train platforms, but it's A-OK to breathe in the diesel fumes of 20 locomotives. Your asthmatic ass would have a field day in there. Or perhaps we should ban trains, on the off chance that you may drive within 100 miles of Chicago some day and MIGHT have your car window down? You really seem to have very high opinion of yourself and the places you just might one day visit.

And if the only job you can get, ALL YOUR LIFE, is in some goddamn bar, well, I'm sorry to say that you're a LOSER, and your life's not really worth a shit anyway, so it probably doesn't matter when or if you die from inhaling anybody else's smoke or not.

Take a bow, dipshit.

Not true in my experience. You have be a certain distance away from entrances (in all of the laws/regulations I have read). They don't say you have to be a certain distance away from the building.

I have a lunch crowd that comes in my bar and if I know the patron is a non-smoker I myself will refrain from smoking till they have finished their lunch and left. Common courtesy goes a long ways.

I would be shocked as hell if they all just went home and drank alone. They're at the bar now because they want to be social.

Charge them $5 for a laminated "lifetime membership" card and move on if it's a huge deal.

In my experience very, very few smokers are this courteous.

Then you do not agree. If it bothered me that much, I would chose an establishment that provides the atmosphere I want. But to say an owner cannot provide the atmosphere he wants, is too restrictive and is taking away a right.

I am no longer a smoker, but I don't want someones rights taken away.
