Where does eveyone stand on smoking bans?

I think it should be up to the owner, and would even be willing to have it up to the owner if you have to be 21 to enter. City wide is bullshit IMO

Take a bow, dipshit.
First of all, I don't work in a bar or restraunt. I manage facilities.

Second, what is wrong with being a bartender or waitress/waiter? You sound like one of those arrogant assholes that think they are better than someone in that position.

Comments like that make me want to give you the match. Hell, I'll spring for the $3 for the gallon of gas.

If it was that easy we would. You guys seem to think we make money hand over fist. First of all we don't get the cut rate the gas stations get. They don't even have to have the permits we have. What you pay at the gas stations is close to what we (in Missouri) pay per case for our beer. Ill get's a rate break because Miller and Bud consider that a competitive market. I would love to show you guys our cost and maybe you would understand what the hell going on but I don't think the owner would appreciate me letting that cat loose.

Yeah, I'm pretty torn on the issue. I know around here places needed a kick in the ass to do something, no business was willing to be the first place that went non-smoking. I'm all for allowing a business to declare itself a smoking establishment. I think a lot of owners were just looking for someone else to blame as to why you couldn't light up.

I'm with you Ed. I don't either. But when their rights infringe on others rights, it makes for a sticky situation.

There's nothing being wrong with a waiter/waitress/bartender, unless you hate it because of some environmental factor that aggravates your health and you are unwilling or unable to change your occupation. That's kind of like Darwinism in action. But I don't think I'm better than somebody just because they work at a bar. I think I'm better than you because you're a fucking imbecile and I'm not. Did I clear that up for you?

And as I've said several times, I no longer smoke. But go ahead with the gas and match - I doubt if you're smart enough light one anyway.

Damn, I'm like an idiot magnet tonight. I just get a flute or something.

You're trying to get me to believe that smoking is of critical importance to your customer base, but a one-time fee of $5 to cover the bar's cost of printing and laminating a card is too much? These are people that smoke a $5 pack of cigs per day, and drop $15+ per visit at the bar. A once in their life $5 fee doesn't even show up on the radar and covers your cost of printing the cards.

I'll ask this question again:

Do you consider yourself the exception or the rule?

I want to get an answer from a smokers (or ex-smokers) perspective.
