Sunglasses buying philosophy

I'm getting old, and I love it, mostly.

Never been a sunglasses wearer, thus never been a sunglasses buyer.

Don't know where I'll land. I am sunglasses-agnostic.

Which are you? Why?

I wear glasses, trifocals. My latest set of shades are trifocals as well, Maui Jim. Damn things set me back almost a grand.

I'm sorry, but the poll did not list a "I had to take out a home-equity loan to purchase mine" option...

Poll fail.

Go to someplace like Sunglass Hut(Try not to get all douchey though), and try on a bunch of different styles. With quality sunglasses, you can get them to fit any size and shaped noggin. And there's lots of variation in arms as far as how they hug your head. My Oakleys have straight arms that end in soft rubber type stuff where it rests against the head, and they tend to stick like glue even if I'm all sweaty.

One of the most underrated aspects of quality glasses is that they fit much much better than the POS cheapies.

I don't know how this relates to the Drop Ball test, but if they fall off your shirt at a tailgate and get stepped on by the dude behind you, the right lens will shatter and the frames will bend.

So there's that...
If you are at a tailgate aren't you wearing sunglasses? Also I have a clip I bought for $5 that I use if I think I may be wanting to take my sunglasses off and on. And since when do people drop things and someone completely ignores it and just steps all over them with complete disregard? It really isn't that hard to have nice things especially when you know you spent a lot on them and are more careful to not break them

Eh, Mizzou football game, we were walking up the big hill outside the stadium back up to the parking lot. Sun had gone down for the most part after the game and I was kinda trotting up the hill to catch up to some folks. They bounced off, took a hop sideways and went into a crowd of feet only to die an ignominious death.

I still take my nice ones to tailgates, though. It took a fair number of unlucky occurrences for those to die.

That is a bit of bad luck. I used to not have any interest in expensive ones but the more I thought about the more I realized I really needed better eye protection. There were times I could not see when driving with the cheap ones because it was just too intense for my eyes and they couldn't adjust. Having contacts makes it important also so that I don't get bloodshot eyes and rub them out. As soon as I got my nice ones my eyes don't get affected by the sun at all anymore. I still have cheap ones for certain activities but if I had the disposable dough I would get some cheap ones in the "nice" class for around a hundred.
