The “sanctity” of the the baseball HOF, their hypocrite writers and voters, and the hypocrisy of the sport in general never ceases to amaze me or make me laugh….

All the PED players should be in….McGwire and Sosa literally saved the sport and the MLB had no problems profiting off of them, Bonds, and everyone else in that era and promoting the hell out of every second of it when they damn well knew what was going on.

It’s a ****ing joke.

The writers can go **** themselves too, they knew what was going on but the sport had never been more popular and they knew they could make a ton of $$ off of it so they didn’t have anything to say but when it all came out they decided to try and get high and mighty…MUH HALL OF FAME, L-O-L…

Screw the PED players, too. They have no one to blame for themselves for the decisions they made that they knew was wrong. Leaving them out is the deterrent for future players not to use.

They still kept their money. They still have their records. Nobody took away their team accomplishments. They're not entitled to be honored in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Bud Selig, ya know the guy who’s watch this all happened under and who reaped all the rewards while turning a blind eye, was elected in….it’s such a farce lol.

Pete’s story changed when he thought it was to his benefit and did so many times. Betting on his team while into it would leverage him to make decisions as manager that would not benefit the team overall like pitching a closer when he needs a night off. I’d never vote for him bc I believe he cheated the game in actual games. He’s as untrustworthy a person as you could find defending himself.

Shoeless Joe is less clear and at this point insignificant as to the outcome.

Selig was elected by Today's Era Committee, not by the writers that you are complaining about.

You're complaining about the writers, they voted 66% for Bonds and 65% for Clemens on their last time on the ballot. That's still 2/3 agreement.

Bonds and Clemens got 25% and less from the contemporary era committee. I feel like the Hall of Fame, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball, has done more to keep Bonds and Clemens out than the writers.

Over the last decade, the Hall of Fame has changed the rules so Clemens and Bonds dropped off the writer's ballot faster (10 years instead of 15) and it just changed the rules so their potential candidacy on committees could be reduced to just two more times.

Let's not forget Joe Morgan, before he passed, wrote a letter on behalf of the Hall of Fame, expressing that the institution did not want PED users in.

But he was one hell of a player, and the best ever at one thing, and that is why I would vote for him.

That's a really good point about Rose. I initially thought it was more forgiveable if he only bet on his team to win, but you're exactly right. He was undoubtedly making decisions to help his team win a particular game even if it wasn't in the team's long-term best interest. That's a great argument for keeping him banned.

That was all great until I couldn't flip on a single game or sports network without 85% of the coverage being about gambling or being sponsored by gambling.

You literally can't walk both sides of that "gambling bad for you but good for me" This would be like if you filled your house with cocaine and then got mad you caught your son snorting coke...

This is basically how i look at it as well. The HoF is supposed to be about baseball's greatest players. I remember a great baseball writer once wrote "the HoF is about telling the story of the game, and the question that must be asked is "can you tell the story of the game without this player?" And if you can't, then they should be in the HoF.

It's not supposed to be political.

And, imo, the story of baseball can't be told without Shoeless Joe or Pete Rose. Regardless of what kind of people they were, they were among the greatest players of all time, and that's the criteria for induction, not whether they were good people or not.
