It's that much?

Does McFaddens send Sully a check for all the money they make off Big 12 fans?

If Mizzou plays in their own state, does anyone even notice?

We built an arena. It's your favorite team who decided that their Mecca was a SEC state.

You built a 250m arena, a 300m entertainment distinct, and now a 300m convention hotel. So almost a cool billion when it's all done and what's your biggest event? The "crappy" Big 12. Which if that's the case, what does that say about KCMO?

It says KCMO gambled by building an arena and district. That building is used almost daily, and kU begs their conference to come to an SEC state to play there. I don't know that the Big Xii (sic) tournament is any bigger than three concerts featuring the Eagles, One Direction, and Benny Hinn, but if it makes you feel better to think so...

P+L issued 300M in general fund bonds (a good idea IMO) to build the district. That means any shortfall comes from the general fund. The Arena cost $275m or something and that was different: it comes from a dedicated source which was a hotel & car rental tax.....plus event ticket surcharges, sponsors (Sprint who paid $50m) and the operator AEG putting in equity.

Long story short, the P+L shortfalls are covered by taxpayers while the Arena is not. So The Big 12 Tourney brings in 10M/yr in sales or $600,000 in taxes. Helping pay $13,000,000 in P+L annual debt (5% of cost)

Kansas should just do what's best for the Big XII(-2) and have the tournament in the second biggest city of their own state.

That arena is in use about 300 nights a year, even without a permanent tennant. It's a boon to the city.

The Arena isn't dependent on events since it's financed by a car & tourism tax + corporate sponsorships. It could be empty every night and not shut down. You are very, very, very stupid.

The first google result shows that in 2012, it was the 22nd busiest arena in the world.

I doubt much has changed.
