INo I wasn't worried about the division at all. Seriously? Typical strange Cardinals fan worrying for no reason. They won all year because they out pitched everyone else and that never wavered. Not some guy knocking in 60 runs in the middle of the order.

The division series you don't need as many pitchers. Lyons most recent appearance should give Matheny the rationale for leaving Choke off the roster. You are probably right about Jay, but he provides the offense of Bourjas (maybe) with below average defense. I would prefer they go with 10 pitchers, but Matheny isn't Maddon (he only kept 9 for the Rays in the division round). With that in mind I could live with the below for the first round.

Pitchers

Lackey
Garcia
Wacha
Lynn
Waino
Belisle
Lyons
Seigrist
Maness
Rosenthal
Villanueva

Infield

Carpenter
Peralta
Wong
Adams
Molina
Garcia
Cruz
Reynolds

Outfield

Holliday
Heyward
Piscotty
Grichuk
Pham
Moss/Bourjas

We were 9-10 against the Brewers as well. Our division record didn't suck by any stretch

Also against the other playoff teams

6-0 against the Mets

5-1 against the Dodgers

You act like we finished 10 games out.

No one gives a shit from the front office to the manager to the players. The regular season was over on Wednesday night. They were legally obligated to play these games but could play scrubs because there was no competitive balance issues to warrant playing anyone.

I know they are tired so hopefully the week of rest is beneficial. The Cardinals have historically turned it up a notch when the playoffs start. Our offense needs more than a notch this year.

I like our chances with facing either Cole/Arietta only once in the NLDS.

if the Cubs beat Pittsburgh ... how do we see the Cubs losing against STL? Will they simply get swept ... or win the first 2 games and then have a typical Cubs meltdown and lose the series in game 5 in typical Cubs fashion?

boy that would be a series to watch

I'd rather see the Mets in the NLCS. We are pushing our luck on beating Kershaw. He is just too damn good to keep getting beat by us.

yeah, Mets are tough, but they struggled to close the season. We will see. Cant wait though. love post season baseball. Im just so happy they called up our youngster Seager before the season ended and he didnt disappoint thats for damned sure. Whats even better is Jimmy Rollins basically conceeded SS for the kid. Said, if im really a team player which i am, he basically needs to be playing, i dont like it, but its the best for the team right now.
