Quitting Smoking
Both the wife and I need to quit, and since we've tried to quit at the same time before, and THAT REALLY SUCKED, I took the plunge first.

Haven't had a cigarette since last night. I've quit several times in the past, sometimes for up to three months - quitting ain't the problem - it's staying quit that kicks my ass.

Any advice on non-smoking methods/products or encouragement would be appreciated.

Hang in there bud, it will be worth it. I quit chewing 2 months ago after several years of that nasty habit. It's a bitch at first, but got easier every week.

Its been 6 1/2 months now. I'm fine and haven't had a smoke since I tried three drags off that one on the second day and couldn't finish it. Never wanted another one.

I just chew regular gum. Its the oral fixation of doing something with your mouth, IMO, not the nicotine itself. I think the patch and the special gum and all that other bullshit is just a racket. If you want to quit, just do it.

Well im still quit no slip ups or anything...

For the Really strong cravings the Gum is working great... I can Feel the Nicotine enter my system and it feels kinda like when you have been running and you stop to catch your breath..


Other than that no really strong urges or cravings that are making me slip or go crazy at this point

Alright, Still quit... cravings have pretty much stopped except for right after I eat and Right when I wake up.

I find that I am A bit more Irritable but not too bad... Im just not an Angry Person

great to hear. took me from age 21 to 38 to get quit. always did pretty well till month 3, then i'd fall apart.5 year now, nicotene free. good luck

stay with it...

even one lousy puff can get you back on the road to smoking...

you have to think of it like being an alcoholic...

you just can't handle even one drink/smoke so you have to not smoke even a little bit - stay strong...

and always carry a stick of nicorette with you (i had to for almost a year, for those times when you'd really really like to have a smoke)...

keep up the good work and use that money for something good, like a future vacation or a wide screen tv (ok, you probably won't save up that mch)...

one time i had quit for about 6 months and then i lit my wife's cigarette a few times and i noticed that i had started closing the door when she smoked (to keep the smoke in)...

over about a month or so, i was smoking a "little bit" and by two months i was back up to 2 - 3 packs a day...
