He also coached LB'ers in New England if you want the Pioli connection.

Rob didn't exactly get the benefit Rex did by coaching with Baltimore instead of Oakland and Cleveland.

D-coordinator from 04-08. I don't know the numbers, but I remember the defenses being reasonably good despite having shitty teams.

Ryan's teams total def. rank:
2004: 30 (Oakland)
2005: 27
2006: 3
2007: 22
2008: 27
2009: 31 (Cleveland)
2010: 22

Ryan's teams points against rank:
2004: 31 (Oakland)
2005: 25
2006: 18
2007: 26
2008: 24
2009: 21 (Cleveland)
2010: 13

It looks like he was on the right track for Oakland and then something changed. Cleveland was moving in the right direction and is currently ranked 9th so far this season.

Guess I didn't follow the Steelers enough when Cowher was the coach... Is he that bad? 149-90 and 12-9 in the playoffs doesn't seem awful

Just some food for thought since they fall from the same tree.

In NY the rumors are that Rex and Sanchez don't quite get along too well. There is talk that Sanchez would be better if he had a more offensive minded HC. Some say, Rex holds back too much on offense which is why Mark doesn't play that well the first 3 quarters. They say that Rex doesn't really respect Mark and use yesterday's game as proof, where the Jets had a comfortable lead and he left Sanchez in the game. Sanchez took a hard sack and banged up his arm. This follows last weeks game where he took a blow to the head and they had to run concussion tests on him after the game.

Not to rub dirt in KC's draft choices, but Phil Taylor is starting and playing really well for Cleveland.

8-9 prior to the Super Bowl win. For years he was a Marty style coach.

Has Powe been inactive the last 2 games? I'm sorry but there were just too many simultaneous train wrecks to watch at once to notice this fender bender.

Here is how it is fair. The guy who is starting and playing well is better than the guy who is inactive. That's how you measure NFL success, on the field.

What the **** has Rob Ryan ever done other than coach a bunch of shitty defenses?

Rex and Rob's football brains are like that movie Twins. Rex got all the good stuff.
