All Royals All The Time!

After consultation with others who peruse the game threads we decided to create this as a repository for all things Royals. Minor league news, AL (ahem) Central (thanks Vonne) news and anything Royals can be found here.

alnorth will continue the game threads as usual. But if you locate something of interest.. ANYTHING.. deals on apparel, best ways in/out of the stadium, giveaways, great stories from this season or from seasons gone by, rumors, trades, anything.... feel free to post it here.

If a big story breaks, you can still start a thread about it. There is merely an all inclusive thread that will make a easy for us all to keep up with all things Royals.

For anyone with a passing interest in the Royals who would like to be informed if anything important or semi-important comes up, today is a bit of an important date.

The Royals have until midnight tonight to decide who (if anyone) to protect from the Rule V draft. Tomorrow morning, anyone who is NOT on the 40-man roster and who has been in the minors 4 years or more (5+ years if signed at 18 yrs old) can be picked.

For the Royals, among the players who are Rule V eligible and potentially good enough for another team to take a chance on are:

OF Jordan Parraz
SS Jeff Bianchi
C Manuel Pina
P Chris Nicoll
P Chris "Disco" Hayes
P Gilbert de la Vara
P Blake Wood

They'll protect Bianchi, probably. They don't give a shit about Disco Hayes, but they should.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are going to lose Disco to a fairly smart team willing to take a chance. He had a bad few months in AAA, but has otherwise been utterly dominant as a funky low-throwing submariner, but the Royals just cant get over his low speed despite the results.

Billy Beane will take Disco in the rule 5. He's not been one to shy away from submarine pitchers before.

and they DID contend in 1989... they won over 100 games but there was no wildcard and Oakland won more... the ****ers.
