I absolutely think Zobrist should be hitting in front of Bryant and Rizzo. I'd ring that bell all year. I know it's the LaRussa strategy of having a real weapon in the 2 hole to put pressure on the pitcher in the 1st inning. Still not a huge fan. Especially because they're playing in the National League. If they were an AL team it might be different. The pitcher hits two spots in front of Bryant, who is probably the MVP of the league. Seems like that's not the best way to put together a big inning.

I agree he should have checked, but the plane of the plate isn't the only thing that defines if he went. Intent is part of it, which is why the check swing is such a debated call. I would agree with the umps that he went after that pitch. There are so many issues with the definition of that call, but I think they got it right.
