Mark Mangino will not return as Kansas football coach, a source close to the situation told Joe Schad of ESPN Thursday night.
The team is scheduled to be told at a meeting Thursday evening.
Athletic director Lew Perkins launched an investigation into Mangino's treatment of players three weeks ago. The Jayhawks won the first five games of the season before going on a seven-game losing streak. Mangino was 50-48 in eight years -- two wins shy of the school record for a coach.
After going 12-1 in 2007 and winning the Orange Bowl, Mangino was given a raise and a contract extension through 2012.

Buffalo coach Turner Gill will interview for the Kansas head coaching vacancy on Sunday, CBS' Tony Barnhardt said during the SEC Championship pregame show.

Gill, a former quarterback and assistant coach at Nebraska, led the Bulls to the 2008 MAC championship and their first bowl game in 50 years. Gill was a candidate for the Nebraska opening two years ago, but the school hired Bo Pelini instead.

Gill's daughter, Jordan, attends Kansas.

Reports are starting to surface that Buffalo head coach Turner Gill will interview for the vacancy at Kansas.

Gill, the former Nebraska quarterback and assistant coach, hasn't confirmed it, but this isn't a surprise. His daughter attends Kansas, and a return to the Midwest would be an attraction.

Buffalo’s Gill reportedly interviewing for KU vacancy

Buffalo head coach Turner Gill

According to a report from CBS prior to Saturday's SEC championship game, Buffalo football coach Turner Gill will interview Sunday for the Kansas University head coaching position.

Gill, one of a handful of coaches mentioned as possible replacements for the recently resigned Mark Mangino, is in his fourth season as Buffalo's head coach, having led the program to the 2008 MAC championship and their first bowl game in half a century.

Despite recent comments stating he was comfortable at Buffalo, meanwhile, Gill has multiple ties to both the Big 12 and KU. Two years ago, he interviewed for the Nebraska head coaching job that eventually went to Bo Pelini, while his daughter, Jordan, is a sophomore at KU.

Interestingly, Mark Mangino's daughter, Samantha, was also a sophomore at KU when Mangino was hired as KU's coach in 2001.

A Buffalo sports information director could not be reached for comment.

I think it will be rough is that the new coach will come in, and probably implement his own offensive/defensive scheme and the players having to re-learn the differnet termonology and such.
Mangino moved Quigley to LB. Not sure why, I thought he could do well at RB if he would have held the ball high and tight and quit ****ing fumbling. He may have been too ****ing stupid to learn the offense, but I liked what I saw last year.

I fully expect KU football to blow ass.

Well, Buffalo had won 4 games in the previous 4 years in conference, which is a pretty good turnaround considering they had at least 3 wins (in 2007) for the first time since 2001, won at least 5 games (total, from 07-09) three years in a row for the first time since '82-84, and had a winning record (last year) for the first time since '96.
