There are a lot of bandwagoners, which annoys me as well. People are running around quoting things that they heard on the broadcast (which sometimes are actually wrong).

However, you've probably never seen anyone watch a match because, as I stated earlier, the good euro leagues play their games in the afternoon and evening, which translates to early morning here. Therefore, these matches are almost never shown at places like bars here in the U.S. I get up and watch most Fulham games on Saturday or Sunday mornings via an internet stream. I then wait around for the Real Madrid games, wich usually start anywhere from noon to 2 p.m. (the league in Spain starts later).

I never really bother discussing these games with non soccer fans because, well, why waste my time? Personally, I usually assume people aren't interested so I don't really talk about it. If someone mentions something about my hat (I usually wear my Inter or RM hat), then I get a conversation going. If they can't recognize the logo on my hat, I know they don't care and I don't bother.

I admit as well, i watched the match too... and i'm not dissing people who like it, i just find it odd that all these people are bragging like they've been following it all their lives.... yet, i've seen no evidence of those people ever even watching a match..

really buddy? ignore me so far??? were you ignoring me yesterday when i was on here stating i was watching the game and cheering for the USA as well? I wasn't dissing the CP members for liking soccer, in fact i wasn't even talking about CP members... i was talking about the people around me, as evidenced by the fact that i stated that in my post...

I appreciate the **** off comment, even if you have no idea what i was talking about... Thanks.
WTF is your point dude? Are you just bitching to bitch about something? Who in this thread is acting like they know all the players? Who?

We're all here because we're mainly rooting for our country more than anything. As far as I know, we've all been fans of the USA for quite some time, so none of us are bandwagoners.

That's like saying rooting for the USA in the Olympics is being a bandwagon fan.

Just last week, I made the mistake of wearing my ManU jersey into a supermarket on The Hill. The bagger told me they don't serve ManU fans there. [he was just kidding, but he was a dyed in the wool Tottenham fan].

now this makes more sense... time zone differences... that would explain some of the "never watch a regular game" stuff, at least for the Euro leagues.

Also, i'm assuming, at least for my area of the US, that since we're far from any US teams, it's hard for people to associate with a specific team, thus there are fewer fans, merchandise, etc in my area... which is why i find it ironic that so many people (again, around my area, NOT CP) are all of a sudden talking about players like they've followed them all their careers.... when in reality, they are just following the USA team, which is what many people do during big events, myself included.

Bandwaggoner fans should be welcome unless they jump off after the tourney is over. Really, right now the US stands to make lots of new fans and convert some non-believers. If people want to pretend like they've been one of us all along then let them. Let's see if they stay when it's over.

Unfortunately, not much is shown on there either. If you want to pay for a special package, you can get Fox Soccer Channel, which shows some EPL and Serie A games. GolTV and ESPN occasionally have La Liga and Bundesliga.

I usually end up watching my EPL games on Sopcast and TVU (streaming programs) and I watch La Liga on ESPN3 (when it shows Real Madrid) or Sopcast or TVU.

Normal cable coverage of soccer sucks the balls.
